Fun times with the new line from Fancy Pants Designs

I don't know about you but when the warmer weather rolls in it seems like my schedule rolls right on out!  The change from Spring to Summer always seems to bring plans out of the woodwork... suddenly there are parties, impromptu gatherings, and what feels like a million places to be.  Sometimes I find it difficult to sit down and scrap all those summer memories when the sun is shining and friends are calling.  Enter the super fun new line from Fancy Pants DesignsSummer Soiree.  They definitely brought the warmth and fun of Summer alive with this new release!  You're going to love the vibrant colors and icons in this line as much as I did.  And Fancy Pants always makes designing with their products so easy!  The papers are thick and double sided, the transparencies are gorgeous, and they include a page of strips and a page of journaling cards too.  Don't even get me started on their quality rub-ons!

So what have I done to make my Summer a little easier?  I decided to create a mini album with the new line for all the photos I would eventually take (because I am smart like that!) and set it aside for when I just don't have time to scrap later in the season.  Now all I will have to do with my photos is set them in the mats that I included and voila... done!

If your Summers are like mine I highly suggest pre-scrapping like I did.  Most of us may never be "caught up" but a girl can dream, right??

First we have to talk about the amazingness of Fancy Pants' new Mixed Media books.  They come in the bracket style I chose as well as scalloped circle, square, and half bracket styles.  They are a mixture of chipboard, acrylic and thick felt and you simply MUST try playing with one!

I designed this album so that all the pictures could be 3.5" x 5" and the mats would show a border around each photo.  For the cover I cut out the waves from one of the papers and added Diamond Glaze to look like water.  These papers have many great details that are perfect for cutting out... I also did this with the sun and clouds.

If you have never tried acrylic these albums are a good way to get your feet wet.  You can try a few pages without commiting to a full album.  I made sure to design each side the same so you never see the backside of the elements.

And the felt sheets... Ohhhh, the felt sheets!  They are luxuriously thick and fun to work with.  They can be sewed, punched, or used like any other material to back your paper.  I love the texture variety they add to this album.

I unified all the pages in this album by adding faux stitching around the pages and many of the other elements.  To see the rest of it check it out here!

I also had a chance to check out one of the neat transparencies in this collection.  Fancy Pants makes their transparencies super thick and detailed and they make a page come together very quickly.  I wanted to be able to see all that fantastic detail so I used a white background and inked the edges to match the transparency.  I layered some elements under it (the green strip) but most of them on top because it adds dimension and helps to blend the transparency into the rest of the page.  You could add a photo to the center of the sun but I chose to accent it with glitter and brads.

And finally I needed to use up ALL the scraps from this line... it is just that awesome... so I whipped up a card with my leftovers.  I fell in love with the sun/cloud image on these papers and couldn't help myself from cutting it out *again* for this.  I popped it with foam dots to add a little dimension and covered the sun in stickles for a bit of sparkle.

I used the following products on these projects:
