Have you ever wondered what to do with those brushes or stamps that you get in your digital kits or you see them in the shop and haven’t purchased because you don’t know how to use them? Or, have you used them previously and are looking for some new ways to work with them? You can recolor them, use them to frame your photos, use them as borders, use them to highlight a key area of a photo, and so much more. Let’s see if the Creative Team can inspire you…
My Favorite Uncle by bamablue
Glenda says, "I used the brushes as a stamp. (IMHO, I think this is easier than using it as a brush, but that could be because I'm not used to how brushes work!) For the brushwork color, I first used the pattern fill feature to change the color and give the brushes a little more texture. I then used the layer palette/multiply to get the burn look and softened the whole effect by reducing the opacity to about 60%."
ACOT Products used: Julie Mead's Classic Brushes, Julie Mead's Paper Bag Elements, Kim Hill's Sandy Paisley
Ben's Kindergarten Grad by nun69
Angie says, "Julie's brushes were PERFECT for adding to my background paper and I colored the brushes to match the colors in my alphabet."
I really like that Angie left some of the brushes black while recoloring the shooting stars to really pull this layout together.
ACOT Products used: Julie Mead's Paper Bag series and Dream Brushes and The Crayon Box Brushes, Marcie Reckinger's Got Layers 7, Christine Nash's Brown Baggin' It, and ACOTs Extra Credit collaborative kit

Jackie says, "My program doesnt use "brushes" like ps programs do, so i use them more like stamps, and fill them with different textures or colors. I used stamps on the large tag, next to the names at the corner of the photo, and for the flourishes at the corners of the page."
ACOT Products used: Julie Mead's Vintage Make a Tag Kit, Michelle Bradley's Fancy Flourishes, Kim Hill's Teen Spirit, Peggy Brutcher's Frame Ups, and ACOTs Rest and Relaxation collaborative kit

I just love how Janell used these brushes... Anita Stergiou's 110 Years of Memories by Anita Stergiou, Framed Brushes by Julie Mead, and Dream Brushes by Julie Mead. She recolored them by picking colors from the picture so that they match perfectly. So colorful, don't you agree?
Other ACOT products used: Anita Stergiou's The Organics Collection, Kim Hill's Teen Spirit Kit and Juicy Fruit, Julie Mead's Paper Bag Elements
Not So Tiny Bubbles by FairyMouseMom
Egle says, "I created the "bubbles" using a brush from one of Julie Mead's brush kits [Framed Brushes] available here at ACOT. I made them different sizes and then masked them with Michelle Bradley's Prism Papers. It was really fun working with these brushes to make them look like bubbles and then those prism papers to give them the colors of bubbles."
Additional ACOT Products used: sketch*PLATE 12 by Anita Stergiou, Kids @ Play series by Michelle Bradley, Tiny Torn Alpha by Danielle Catalano-Titus
Little Gymnast by bamablue
Glenda recolored these Dream Brushes by Julie Mead by creating a fill pattern from her DD's bathing suit and using that to recolor the brushes and then using them as stamps for this layout.
Addtional ACOT products used: Lena Brandenburg's Melonhead, Peggy Brutcher Graffiti Grunge
moments with grandma by MamaK321
Kristie says, "Working with brushes is not something I do regularly. Sometimes it takes a bit of practice and patience to get the right look. But don't be discouraged, in addition to looking really cool, brushes are very versatile and can be simply used as stamps."
I love the way Kristie recolored these brushes to match the sepia tones in the photo.

Alpine Slides by FairyMouseMom
Egle says, "I used Gypsy Chick’s “Shabby Paisley Brush / Stamp Set” to create the vertical border strip to the right of my photo. I used only 1 brush, copied it, and flipped it. I masked each one of those brushes with one of Lena’s blue papers….and reduced the opacity of the brush itself to give it a more subtle look."

Babe in the Woods by bamablue
Glenda says, "I created the dragonfly brush from a dingbat font (2peasGGsLoveMe) and applied to Kim Hill's Sandy Paisley paper for a fun backgound paper." [There's a lot of free dingbats on the internet; this is a fun and easy way to create something that is truly unique and exactly what you want!]
