Fall into Fabulous... 12 comments

...ribbons and bows

Do you have the "feeling" of Fall in the air? Well the Digital CT certainly has the feeling  and wants to share those wonderful colors of fall with you. What better way to do that than by showcasing Julie Mead's Fall Ribbons and Bows and Kim Hill's Under Wraps Element Pack. So we hope that you are inspired to embrace the warm colors of fall after seeing these wonderful layouts!

by CammsMomma {Jackie}

look how Jackie embraced fall even when they don't have a fall in Florida. So as you can see, even without the change of seasons she was able to embace these warm colors.

by Janello {Janell}

Janell tied in Kim's ribbon with Julie's fall sprinkles and falling leaves and came up with this adorable layout!

another one by Janello {Janell}

LOVE how she used such a large ribbon down the border and sprinkled a few leaves throughout

by nun69 {Angie}

Look how Angie intertwined the ribbon through her title letters..

and look at the impact this large ribbon has on Angie's Laugh page..

by FairyMouseMom {Egle}

Do you see Egle's ribbon on this cool corn maze layout? I love how it blends so well with her small framed photo and
how she just added that little touch of fall by putting that little sunflower as an element over her ribbon.

Human GPS

here is another one that FairyMouse Mom did where she resized the ribbons to fit perfectly as elements on
her page!

A-MAZE-ING

by MamaK123 {Kristi}

Look how Kristi took a whole different approach of using ribbon by puttn it in the middle of her title!

Some of the products used were from these great digital pack and elements you can find in the Digi Shoppe:

We'll Make Paper....and Patterned, To Boot 17 comments

Are you like me....and love patterned paper?  I so admire it, whether it is digital or paper.  I so admire those designers out there who feed my passion.

So, that got me to thinking....."Hmmm, what does it take to make my own?"  I put this challenge to the test and most of the Digital CT members came along for the ride with me.

Below you will see our layouts that feature our own "hand made" digital patterned paper that we used as our wall paper / background paper.

Let us know what you think, won't you?

Dolphins by Egle (FairyMouseMom)

"I created this paper by starting with one "symbol" and copying it into a pattern. With that I created a template, used two colors, and an effect on one of the colors (if I remember correctly) and came up with that background paper you see here."

45 days by Glenda (bamablue)

"I created the funky stripy paper by creating a 1x5 inch color strip with 5 blocks of color, then chopping it up by copying chunks of the block and pasting it over other areas. I then used this as a fill pattern on a 12x12 sheet. After I did that, I took a white circle/dot brush and liberally painted all over the stripes. I quite like the way it turned out!  And, I was very lucky with my colors; they matched up pretty well (with the kit I used)."

I Can Fly by Janell (janello)

"I made two different backgrounds for this layout. The first one I created by by simply using the paint bucket tool and filling in the background with navy blue and the using the eye dropper tool, selected the same yellow in the swirl and used text to make a patterned background and then duplicated it to fill the whole paper. I also took a dry brush and painted some green edges on the paper. The second paper I made using the the paint bucket (brown) and then the paint brush tool and stamped teal circles to make polka dotted paper!"

Mermaids (Left and Right) by Egle (FairyMouseMom)

"I created this paper by starting with one "star" and copying it into a pattern onto a blue paper that I used a 'film grain' effect. "

Sprinkler Fun by Angie (nun69)

" I started with a blue background.  I added a 2nd transparent layer.  Then I added bubble and background brushes to transparent layer.  After that I added a Photo Filter to background layer and changed the opacity to 50%.  I then added a Gradient Filter Radial Style at a 45 degree angle changed the opacity to 75%.  I also added bubble brushes and background brushes."

Recipe Card by Jackie (CamsMomma)

" To make my paper i used a combinatin of brushes/stamps found in kits and collections and the use of my program filters.
For the purple background paper, first i filled my canvas with a gold color. Then I used Julie Meads bold brush strokes, sized them very large (long enough to go all the way across the canvas) and filled them with the purple color. To add more depth and texture I used an overlay from Gypsy Chicks grungy overlay set and filled it with the same gold color I used in the back. You cant see very much of the gold backing I did this just to fill any holes in the paint strokes.
for the lighter paper I created a rectangle and used a lighter shade of the same gold. I used one of the chalk effect filters on it and played around with the setting until I got the look I was going for. Then I took the grid stamp from one of Amy Teets kits, repated it on the paper until I had most of the areas filled. I colored those graph lines in purple and erased some of them away until I got what you see here.
I used the template peices from Marcie Reckinger to create the corner folds. I filled each fold with the gold color and used a criss cross watercolor effect on them.
All in all I really love how this turned out!! It has a lot of texture, and the colors are really rich--especially with the added elements--and get me totally psyched for fall!"

Joyful Smile by Kristianne (MamaK321)

"I used a few different brush styles and a couple doodled designs to create my paper.  I started with a wide round brush and stippled in yellow on a cream colored base. Then I used another rough brush to create a distressed pink edge. I used a Gypsy Chick brush to add the doodled flower in the corner and I created my own brush from a doodled swirl and added that to the bottom of the page as well."

New Scrapbook Room by Amanda (mkcdaisy), Guest Digital Creative Team Member

Don't you love how Amanda let her creativity soar and created a background paper to match the patterned design that she painted on her scrapbooking room wall???

Sea the Horses (Left and Right) by Egle (FairyMouseMom)

"I picked a background color that matched one of the colors form one of the sea horse bird baths.  I then had created a separate file which was an outline of a sea horse....cut and pasted across the entire page.  I layered that page onto the teal base and masked it with a lighter color, as I wanted the pattern to be a bit more subtle."

I am truly amazed at what was created for this digital CT reveal!!!!!  I think we truly had a blast with this one.  Now, it's your turn.  Show us what you can create!

LoveMyBella says:
"I love the alphas that Julie used!  Absolutely gorgeous layout."

n7zuq says:
"This layout is stunning!  The bright sunflower highlights her photos beautifully and carries the feeling of shining bright.  I love the wire and mesh accents.  They add texture and are a nice contrast to the bright yellow of the page."

bamablue says:
"Julie rocks the digi world with this layout; it's simply amazing!"

Be Yourself by Jeanie

mayerkt says:
"I love the colors, and the variety of paper blocks lined up at the bottom!  Its a stellar landscape design!"

bamablue says:
"What a sweet photo and the simplicity of this layout is the perfect compliment to the photo."

n7zuq says:
"I love the simple design and soft colors.  This really draws your eye in to the fun photo."

Laura Fiore says:
"Be Yourself by Jeannie is such a sweet simple layout! I love the white elements that keep it soft."

LoveMyBella says:
"What an adorable picture!  I love the white space and the focus on the photo."

Jackie Pettit says:
"Love the photo, the title, colors, and use of white space!"

FairyMouseMom says:
"Love the use of "white space" here and the sizes of the pieces of the papers that were used here on the layout."

Live Out Loud by Bernadettte

Beth-W says:
"This Lo just blows me away.  I think 2 page Los are difficult and she always makes them look so easy.  I love her photo choices, the black and white pics against the bright colors and all of the accents.  I also have to say this color combination is awesome!!!!!"

n7zuq says:
"I love the spirit of the layout and feeling it conveys. You can just feel the joy coming from her daughter. I love the colors she used with the black and white photos; they add perfectly to the theme. One of my favorite things about Bernadette's layouts is all the little details. She is the the master of details; her extra touches are pure eye candy but never overwhelming."

LoveMyBella says:
"Bernadette doesn't create anything that I don't just love.  Another perfect layout!  I love the colors and the way she uses so many pictures and embellishements, but it never feels like "too much"!"

Laura Fiore says:
"What can I say about Bernadette's Live Out Loud?? Bernadette is one of the most talented scrappers I have seen. She has such an amazing style that is all her own! She can work the multiphoto layouts like they're nobody's business! The color combination on this one is bold, and loud just like you can imagine Sam to be from her journaling!

FairyMouseMom says:
"Love the use of multi photos here on this 2-page layout, as well as the fact that they are in B&W.  Funky paper colors used."

Jackie Pettit says:
"I love how she fit so many photos on the page, and I love the color combination.  I love how there is so much on the page, but it is so well designed that it doesn't look cluttered!"

melis_ga says:
"Bernadette sure knows how to scrap multi-photo layouts.  This is super fun...from the color palette to the photos.  Awesome layout!"

Fall by scrapcathy

melis_ga says:
"This layout pops with the black background and the bright blue heart.  The black stitching on the heart really grounds it.  The trail of leaves is wonderful...absolutly gorgeous layout!"

n7zuq says:
"The black ground is a perfect contrast to the patterned paper. The heart draws your eye to the photo and the leaves scattered in the corner really adds to fall feeling. A truly gorgeous design."

katarria says:
"I'm loving that giant heart and how she framed her photo so well here!  I like how she used fall colors but then added a touch of blue into the mix as well, almost like a breath of fresh air."

Laura Fiore says:
"All of the little touches of black on this layout by scrapcathy are perfect...the stitching, the rubons framing the photo, the cardstock, all just add together to make the lighter colors in the photo stand out. And there's just nothing that beats a big ol' heart on a layout!"

bluejeans7 says:
"Beautiful layout!  I love the oversized heart, the stitching on it adds just the right touch."

bamablue says:
"I'm speechless.  This is so lovely - the wonderful photo just pops on that dark background; the stitches on that gorgeous heart are striking and those falling leaves... perfect!"

Beth-W says:
"I love the subtle use of color and all of the leaf accents.  The photo was excellent and the LO was balanced so well."

janello says:
"Those leaves just want to pop right off the page with that dark background and this is such a sweet photo!"

mayerkt says:
"The black background is so stunning!  It really makes the photo and rest of the elements POP!"

Mine by pialopez

Jackie Pettit says:
"I love how she used part of a color photo on top of the large black and white photo to make it stand out. Love the design and the three smaller photos- gorgeous!"

katarria says:
"Her arrangement of the photos is fantastic on this layout, and I love how she broke up the page using her title in the center!"

FairyMouseMom says:
"I like the photos used here in this layout, especially the color effect was given to the top focal photo."

janello says:
"I the chipboard and the swirls...hot hot right now and the tiny photos highlighting those sweet little body parts makes your heart melt!"

mayerkt says:
"GASP!  This is such a pretty baby layout!  I love the 'non-traditionally baby' colors that are featured here, and her photo selection is just supurb!"

nun69 says:
"I LOVE the pop up photo in the top picture and the way she made it color to contrast with the B&W photo underneath"

Beth-W says:
"The effect on the largest photo was perfect!!  Using color and black and white on the same picture really grabs your attention.  The design is wonderful and the use of non traditional baby colors is very inspiring. "

bamablue says:
"How soft and sweet!  I really love the photo action framing that wee, tiny hand."

"The colors in this Layout really caught my eye, as did the repetitve squares (in this case featuring his super strong concentration!)!  The kit she chose is just too perfect for the photos!"

melis_ga says:
"I love the succession of photos.  You can truly visualize the moment.  Great work on the title also."

nun69 says:
"I really like the blocking effect of all the photos on the top row."

Beth-W syas:
"I really liked  how she added so many photos in strips at the top, and the colors in her photos really pop against the green background.  The swirls really give the LO movement. "

Beautiful by JaJue

nun69 says:
"The title says it all!"

katarria says:
"I love the fantastic use of color and how the beads and flowers help draw my eye in to the gorgeous photo!"

FairyMouseMom says:
"I love that photo...it's striking!  I love how the emphasis is on that picture."

janello says:
"Nice title work and the bottom and I love these rich fall colors!"

Beth-W says:
"I love how she mastered the "white" space in the LO placing her photo at the top diagionally.  The accents don't overwhelm the page and add just the right touch to make the page complete."

melis_ga says:
"This layout is stricking with the rich colors...the photo pops off the page.  Absolutly gorgeous."

bamablue says:
"What wonderful colors for a gorgeous picture!  I love the simplicity of this layout; it really is "Beautiful!"
