I've always wished there were prettier 12x12 albums. They are large and hold beautiful scrapbook pages, so why can't they themselves be a piece of art? After all, you typically see the album on the shelf more often than the pages inside. I was in need of a new album so I thought I would decorate one! I got a Modern D-Ring Album 12"X12" which has heavyweight chipboard covers that offer a smooth surface for customizing with paper and embellishments.
I started by grabbing 4 sheets of 12x12 paper that I wanted to use for the front, back, and inside covers. I chose to use pages from the Vintage Artistry Everywhere from 49 and Market because I liked the theme of travel for this album. 49 and Market pages are so beautiful to work with and have a layered look that I love.
I wanted to make sure that these pages would adhere well, so I used a generous amount of Nuvo Deluxe Adhesive to stick the pages down.
Next step, gesso! I wasn't a fan of this lime green spine and I knew I wanted more of a mixed-media look, so I decided to paint it. Gesso (or primer) is an important first step when you are adding paint to anything. It has a grittier texture than regular paint which allows the paint to hold onto it. Gesso also has a binder in it which allows it to stick well to a wide range of surfaces. I also painted over the edges of this album with gesso as well.
Once I had all of the fabric covered, which took 2 coats of gesso, it was time to start painting. I wanted a very subtle rainbow of colors that would fade into each other. To create this effect I painted with a Blending Tool that was first loaded with white paint and then lightly picked up a touch of color. I made sure to also paint over the sides of the album as well.
I wanted to use some of the Fabric Tape from the collection I'm working with to go over the spine. Although this tape is sticky, I wanted to be sure it would stay permanently and not move around so I glued it down with wet glue.
I debated leaving my album at this stage but decided to add some embellishments to the cover. I used pieces from the Ephemera Bits, Rub-on Transfer Set, and Filmstrip Frames.
Here's a look at the finished album! I debated covering the album with Mod Podge to protect it better but decided it wasn't necessary. But this is a step that you could add if your book gets flipped through often.
Let me know if you would decorate an album like this! It was a pretty quick project and I love the results. Now it's time to organize my scrapbook pages and add them in here!
Thanks for stopping in today! See you back here next time.

Hello crafty friends! It’s Channin here and today I’m creating a bold and graphic Father’s Day card featuring several products from Waffle Flower Crafts.
To create this card I first ink-blended the front of an A2 top-folding white card base (4 1/4” x 11”; scored at 5 1/2”) with the Sunburst Stencil and Salvaged Patina Distress Oxide. I then rotated the stencil and ink-blended again but this time with Mermaid Lagoon Distress Oxide.
Next, I die cut an A2 panel (4 1/4” x 5 1/2”) of white cardstock with the largest die from the Nesting Stitched Ovals Die Set. I then put the oval aside and adhered the remaining portion of the panel to the card front with foam adhesive.
Next, I die-cut a trophy and a #1 out of white cardstock with the die from the Trophy Cup Die-n-Stencil set. I then ink blended over the trophy and the #1 die cuts with the coordinating stencil and several Distress Oxides (Squeezed Lemonade, Mustard Seed, and Fossilized Amber). I then adhered the #1 to the trophy and then I adhered both to the card front with foam adhesive.
Next, I stamped a sentiment from the #1 Dad Sentiments Stamp Set in Versamark ink onto black cardstock. I then poured white embossing powder over the sentiment and then heat set with a heat tool. Next, I trimmed the sentiment down to a strip and then finished the card by adhering the sentiment to the card front with foam adhesive.
I hope you enjoyed my card. Thank you so much for stopping by!

Channin Pelletier
Hello! I’m Channin Pelletier and I live in sunny Arizona with my husband and our two sweet daughters. I’m a long-time stamper and paper crafter. I actually started paper crafting back in junior high by carving my own stamps from erasers to make handmade cards and scrapbook pages. However, over the years, cardmaking has definitely become my favorite crafty hobby! It’s difficult for me to nail down my style, I’m a bit of a chameleon! I love clean and simple designs, coloring flowers and critters, and even constructing interactive cards! But overall I love trying to come up with designs that are unique or unexpected!
I’d love it if you would check out my YouTube channel, Blog, Gallery, or follow me on Instagram!!
