Stay cool with these challenges from the CT!<\/strong><\/p>\n

\tIt's been sweltering in these parts lately and I don't know about you but I get a little sluggish in the heat and find it hard to be creative.  Good thing the awesome Creative Team put together another stellar set of challenges to get you motivated this month!!  So, if you can break yourselves away from sipping froo froo drinks by the pool (Tiki Bar, anyone?), then get yourself scrapping and let's see what you can do!<\/p>\n

\tAd inspiration is about taking ideas, such as colors, patterns, title or keywords, theme, font styles, and element placement, and using them to create your own layout. You can break the ad inspiration down to a basic sketch, copy a prominent design straight from the ad, or you can alter a design to fit your own layout. Most ads are 8.5×11" but you can adapt the ad to fit any size. Remember, this is not a sketch and you are not required to follow every detail. You can use either one or both pages of this ad to inspire your layout. The key is to really LOOK at the ad and find the pieces that INSPIRE you!<\/p>\n

\tJuly always makes me think of the colors red, white, and blue, of course. However, red and blue look fantastic with other neutrals besides white. Try red and black, or blue and tan, or the combos I used in my example layouts: red and brown and blue and brown. For this challenge, I want you to pair either red or blue with a neutral besides white (grey, black, brown, tan, cream, etc.). You may use other colors as accents, but at least 75% of your layout should be your red or blue + neutral combo.<\/p>\n

\t<\/span><\/span>For this challenge you will create a layout using a countdown method of items. I will list five different kinds of things (eg. elements, papers, photos) for you to use in your layout. Every month there will be five new items for you to use. This month I thought of how summer means gardens! Whether it be flowers, fruits or veggies!<\/p>\n

\t5 – Flowers or veggies or fruits elements
\t4 – Ribbons and\/or strings
\t3 – Different alphas or fonts in your title and\/or journaling
\t2 – Yellow dominant papers
\t1 – Large picture (over 4×6 size)<\/p>\n

\tYou are welcome to use more than these items (eg. 5 ribbons instead of 4 is fine) just as long as you meet the required list and numbers asked for each. A page is seen below.<\/p>\n

\tIt doesn't matter how far back our childhood goes and mine goes back pretty far.  Use a picture from a summer when you were growing up and tell us about it. Where did you love to go or to do?  Tell something that brings back a good memory that you want to capture for the future.<\/p>\n

(Hint: sometimes I only need a small piece of the paper I like, so I will drag and drop several papers onto one 8.5 x 11 canvas, then I can print them all on one sheet of printer paper without a lot of waste.) So this month I challenge you to make a layout where the main color is a citrus-y color – yellow, green or orange. Even better if you use all three, but that isn't required. It just has to be a sort of citrus-y shade – i.e. no dark hunter greens only lime greens.<\/p>\n
