Have you heard the news? I feel like I'm behind the times, it was announced last weekend but I didn't hear until yesterday.

Here's the gist of it - Fantasyland in the Magic Kingdom (the section with Dumbo, the carousel, etc.) is going to double in size. Unfortunately, that means Toon Town has to go. They are going to move Mickey & Minnie's houses somewhere else in the park, and the Barnstormer is supposed to stay, but it sounds like Donald's Boat is a thing of the past. I was bummed at first, because I actually like the feel of Toon Town, but then I read the plans for the new Fantasyland and it's pretty exciting if you think about it. The new section of Fantasyland will be built behind a castle wall, and will have Cinderella's home (where you meet and interact with Cinderella), the Beast's castle (with a restaurant and meet & greet with Belle), and Aurora's cottage, where you can meet her and celebrate her birthday with the 3 Good Fairies. The biggest news is about the rides - first there is a new ride based on The Little Mermaid, sounds like it will be similiar to the Finding Nemo ride at Epcot but hopefully even better. Also, tThey are rebuilding Dumbo, giving it a circus queue line with games to play while you wait and doubling capacity. And they have added other restaurants and attractions in there too. Plus, at the very end (since the tents with Mickey, the Princesses and what is currently housing Pixie Hollow are all coming down), they will build a new Pixie Hollow with a meet & greet with Tinker Bell and her fairy friends and an interactive walk-through.

Now for Star Tours - they will be replacing the current Star Tours ride at MGM/Hollywood Studios with a new 3D Star Tours themed on the Pod Racers in The Phantom Menace. So cool! I love Star Tours, but it has needed an update for a while, and I love Pod Racers!

They are going to update the Hundred Acre Wood playarea with a new look, I think they might have to move it over, it might be in the way of the expansion. Also, I think they might have to relocate Ariel's Grotto to make room for the castle wall. They have lots of concept art available which I linked above. I'm surprised, with Snow White rereleasing on DVD this fall, that she's not included with her own cottage in the new area, but I guess they ran out of room. Maybe they'll add her later. All in all, I think this is very exciting news!

Yes, I read the news in another one of my favorite websites, All Ears. I think Fantasy land could use some new areas. Thanks for all of the links you put in. Can't wait to get down to WDW after Space Mtn. reopens.
