February Color Challenge UPDATED!

Post by Art_Teacher »

Can't believe January is already over.  Seems like we were just celebrating the new year!  I have been seeing on the board that Purple is a hard color for many to scrap with, so you guessed it!  February's Color Challenge is to use one of the shades of purple in the swatch below.  You must use at least one of the purples and then 2 of the other shades in the swatch.  Only use these colors (you can use all the colors in the swatch if you want. ;) ) Ready, Set, Go!  Can't wait to see what you do!
Image
Challenge must be completed by midnight, February 28th and placed in the appropriate spot in the gallery.
Must be a new layout.
Feel free to also share your layout here on the thread. :)
I am not offering a prize for this challenge...it is just here to motivate you to step outside of your box.  (However, I have been known to occasionally select a random winner for a little RAK from my stash. ;)  )

Wonderful news!  Fantastic designer of Sweet Spot Designs, Kay Eflin, has created this gorgeous digi kit with the palette of my color challenge. Image  She is offering the kit FREE to everyone who completes the color challenge (following the rules) and enters it into the Gallery in the Color Challenge Category.  Even if you aren't a digi scrapper, this is a chance to have a gorgeous, full kit and you can print out papers and embellishments to make lovely hybrid layouts!  If you don't know how, I will teach you!

Oooooo!  I am so doing this challenge. I have a lot of old purple paper in my stash that I need to get rid of -so I  can buy more pp of course Image  Now finding embellies in my stash that will work with purple might be a bit of a challenge but I'm up for it. Is there any limit to how many LO's we submit?

Since it isn't for a prize, do as many as you like! :)

I love the other colors with the purples.  Maybe that will make them easier to use!  Thanks for the challenge!

Favourite colour combo!  except I added in the green because it was part of the paper also.

Oh darn ~  I thought it would be great to use up the teal and purple paper, and it would be ok because the flowers in it have a few green leaves...Oh well, it's another page done for my album and that's what counts!

So true, and it is a great layout!  I saw yellow in it, too, and no other color in the swatch besides the purple and light blue?  Need to use two of the other colors (3 are neutral - beige, and two shades of gray, plus the blue and purples).

Doesn't the white in her background paper count since there's as much of that as there is the purple?  If not I'm confused. :)  Or are you calling the 4th color in the swatch grey instead of white?

Katrina, it is most definitely a light grey...there is no white in the swatch (except the background color).

Colors in the swatch are from left to right:  beige, a greyed lavendar, light aqua (more blue than green), light grey, darker grey, and deep purple.

It is my opinion that swatches like these are like sketches - you use them as you can make them fit your pics and supplies.
But use mine as an example of what NOT to do if  am completely wrong!

It is hard to see,  but on the purple flowered paper behind the pic mat,  of which I have cut one out to dot the I,  is actually beige and the ruffle-looking flower part behind the large flower on top is grey.
So the only way I have deviated from the swatch is used the green and (it's actually not yellow) orange which was already on the paper, and the teal is also a bit darker than your swatch.
