JULY 2019 MAKE-THE-CUT Challenge - WINNER!

Post by Deanna13 » Mon Jul 01, 2019 12:31 pm

You will need to use solid cardstock for the background and if you want to matte your photos. Use only the patterned papers listed, but you can add anything else as far as embellishing and mixed media goes, etc. You can place them in any design you like. :)

4 1/2 x 10
3 1/2 x 7 1/2
2 x 9 1/2

Here's my example of grandkids Brady and Kaylee at the fireworks on the 4th of July 2018. :greeninlove:

Used these cuts to make a Christmas layout. Used really old Christmas patterned papers . The poinsettia is stamped and heat embossed with gold powder before fussy cutting it out, I made up a bunch of them a few years back.

Also for the Christmas in July challenge.

OMG, I think I might make it this month!   I have the first paper cut and the photos matted.  Trying to decide which of the other patterned papers I want to use!  Even have the title and journaling in my head.  more tomorrow!

I'm loving the idea of this challenge! I have so much patterned paper it's ridiculous. My question to the rest of the cherries....

Do you cut the paper first and work from there or do you cut as you go along?

I am cutting papers from collections I want to use up first and then figuring out what photos / embellies I want to use. It's helping me focus more on using up bits and pieces.  So thank you for the big nudge, Deanna!!!  :-D
Happy Scrapping!

Anne-Marie, I don't know how anyone else does it but the way I do it is...

Find a line you want to work with and cut your papers.
Choose a solid cardstock for the background and then start placing your papers around. I wouldn't glue them down at this point.
Next, choose what photos would go along with your papers and get them printed and placed around on the papers.
After you find a happy medium with the design and placing your photos I would start gluing.
Lastly, I do the embellishing and journaling.

I, too, love this challenge!
For me, I decide on pictures, then grab my bin of scrap patterned papers. With the shapes of the given sizes that will be needed, I gather pieces that go together - this could be 6 or 8 pieces before making my final choice. Then I make sure the cuts will fit on them and the cut size sometimes further decides which cut goes to which pattern. Once I've chosen and cut, I start to arrange them with the photos.

I choose my photos first.  Then I find papers to match.  Then I cut the papers to size.  Find a pleasing arrangement of the photos with the paper and adhere to background.  then the title, journaling and embellishing.

right now, I am working on my title.  Looking for the right size and colors and font.

I've been wanting to try this challenge since you started it but have always run out of time... but I finally did one, and it was fun!
Combined with the Christmas in July challenge.
