New Challenge - July Build A Layout- UPDATED WITH WINNER

Post by sherelm » Mon Jul 01, 2019 3:49 pm

Congrats to JAire for winning in July! Your card had been ordered.

've been trying to brain storm this as the best way to do it, but keeping it simple. It may change if the rules get difficult, but let's see....

We use a lot of components until we get to our final completed layout. If you are like me, once I start, I want it all done in one sitting, so I can start all new the next time. But I feel sometimes I could have played a little more, and sometimes I play too much and should have stopped.

With those things in mind, I came up with a two part challenge. You can choose to do as many part ones as you'd like, and add more entries by adding part two

So let's explain with July's challenge: journaling box

Part 1. I want you to make a piece of cardstock into your journaling box. You can do it with a stamp, or line a piece by hand, or neither, just cut a piece to hold info for your page. If you choose to do it on the computer, fine! But... Take it up a notch and embellish it. A mat, color markers/pens, all good places to start. How about fussy cutting something from the line of paper you are using? Enamel dots, glitter, whatever else you want to add. You could even add a cluster to one of the corners.
Part 2. Use it on a layout!

It's that simple. I was planning on having a sample ready, but I will get one posted this week. But anything goes.

I'm hoping you have fun doing it - even with your scraps - that you'll make some to toss into a kit, or pages for on the go.

Part 2 will always be "use it on a layout", each month, but the idea of this is to take manufactured things up a notch, to make it yours.

Each submission will be an entry, and will close at 11:59pm the last day of each month, and I'll pull for a $5 GC. You can add in your submission each month how many entries you did, so I won't miss them is you want to, but I'll be careful too, at counting.

Sher I love this! One of the things I struggle with a lot on layouts is what I am going to journal on. I'm always going crazy looking for the perfect journaling card. This is perfect for me! I keep saying I should make my own!

After making this I read something different. I did not start with a plain piece of card stock, but cut a patterned piece from a paper pad that was already meant to be a journaling block and I embellished it. I added the purple borders, the corners and cut a die and ran ribbon thru it.  If this isn't acceptable, please advise and I will remove it from this challenge.

Sher I really enjoyed this challenge! I have SO many journaling stamps, I liked the nudge to use one!  I started out with a piece of plain white cardstock & an acrylic journaling stamp.  I used a Tim Holtz die & some stickers to decorate it:

The journal box  is on the right side of this double page. It's a leaf shape that I inked the edges of and added stickers to. I also combined with the alphabet challenge!
