This is my latest page using a quote from Gandhi.
I began with some torn pages from an old paperback (25 cents at a church bazaar) covered with light gesso. I then added several shades of blue craft paint (I buy the cheap stuff from Michael's when it's on sale for only $0.33 a bottle) and then a cream paint. I DON'T get fancy with my paint - I use my fingers, a makeup sponge, and/or baby wipes to spread. This is the technique I like most - it is the most forgiving and my lack of experience in painting tends to show in all my brush strokes so 'smoodging' is the way to go for me!
Covered it all with a layer of semi-gloss gel (makes my later use of Pitt pens easier) and added some texture stamping. The globe was a two-layer Hero Arts cut file from the Silhouette Shop - I used a few shades of craft paint, added a texture stamp to the continents and then covered with a layer of semi-gloss gel. I then used by Faber Castell PITT markers to add shading. The title was done with a Time Holtz stamp and a mini alpha stamp set I found in the dollar bin at Target. Highlights were added to some of the words and the continents using a gelly roll pen.
