The Perfect Christmas Gift for Mom - During my early years, our family always posed for an annual photo Christmas card. The first Christmas card in 1951 showed a B&W photo of Mom, Dad and my older brother Ben. Two Christmases later, it was Ben and me. By the fourth Christmas, the photo showed Ben, me and baby sister Barbara. And so forth . . . until about 12 years later, when the annual photo Christmas card showed all 7 siblings: Ben, Bonnie, Barbara, Becky, Billy, Brenda and Beth. The tradition continued for 20+ years with the number of siblings declining as we grew up and started our own families and traditions.
Mom had saved extra sets of these annual greeting cards in her cedar chest for years and recently shared them with me. I decided the perfect Christmas gift would be to create a mini-scrapbook album using the photo cards. So I gathered my supplies and got to work. I added my parents' wedding picture in the front window and ended the album with recent photos of Mom, her tabletop Christmas tree and her special companion - Lenny, a Yorkie. As Mom opened her 2016 Christmas gift, she started to cry. Then as she slowly turned the pages, a big smile appeared across her face. We shared a memorable moment that I will always cherish!
