Clair's Farewell Chlg #3 posted Sep 2, 2006
by koala1966

Something I love. Both these pages are about things I love - cooking, and my vacation to Memphis.

The idea for these layouts came from Katie the Scrapbook Lady's August Amazing Month of Memories idea file.

August 15 - Julia Childs' Birthday (1912)
Julia Childs - her voice was a comfort to me, not in the traditional way because I know it had a pitchy sound and strange accent, but in a "reminder of childhood" sort of way. Mom and Grandma both loved to watch Julia Childs, and they were both excellent cooks. I always thought Nicole was the only one to inherit the cooking gene, but in my 20's I discovered a love for cooking I didn't know existed. It comes in handy, since John loves to eat (ok, so do I).

Supplies:
cardstock - Archivers
rubons - Making Memories (Hudson)
stickers - Susan Branch
stamp - Autumn Leaves (Flourishes)
ink - Technique Tuesdays
font - Chef's Choice (alphabet from Lettering Delights) and LD Comfort (True Type font from Lettering Delights)

August 16 - Elvis Died (1977)
I never dreamed I would enjoy visiting the home of Elvis so much, but it really was the kind of trip dreams are made of - so much fun! And I know much more about Elvis than I imagined there was to know. For example - he's known for his rowdy behavior, but did you know he didn't actually drink nor do any street drugs? His addiction was only to prescription drugs. Also, the death of his mother hit him especially hard, as he wasn't allowed leave from his service in the Army to attend her funeral. His estate is beautiful, and his collection of awards breathtaking. Just as enormous is the list of charities he supported during his lifetime, especially those for children.

Supplies:
cardstock - Archivers
rubons - K&Co Transfers to Go, Making Memories Simply Stated
snaps - We R Memory Keepers
brad - Traces
stamp - Autumn Leaves (Flourishes)
ink - Technique Tuesdays
fonts - Allegro (alphabet) and LD Stylish (True Type font), both from Lettering Delights
