December Challenges!
We’re hoping your layouts are merry and bright!
Wow, it is already the LAST month of the year! It is hard to believe that we are in the midst of holiday season and will soon be heading towards New Year's resolutions. But let's not get ahead of ourselves! First we have to survive the hustle and bustle of December. I usually indulge in a few treats to keep me happy and sane. These "inspiration treats" should get you started! My wish for you in this month of lights and warmth is that you have the happiest of seasons and find joy with your families. Take lots of photos… and remember to scrap them!

– only one LO per challenge will enter you into the points drawing
– LOs cannot be entered into more than one challenge category
– *please* only enter LOs that meet the specific challenge instructions
Ad Inspiration Challenge – By MamaK321 (Kristianne)

Ad inspiration is about taking ideas, such as colors, patterns, title or keywords, theme, font styles, and element placement, and using them to create your own layout. You can break the ad inspiration down to a basic sketch, copy a prominent design straight from the ad, or you can alter a design to fit your own layout. Most ads are 8.5×11" but you can adapt the ad to fit any size. Remember, this is not a sketch and you are not required to follow every detail. You can use either one or both pages of this ad to inspire your layout. The key is to really LOOK at the ad and find the pieces that INSPIRE you!

Every year at this time, I find myself in need of a quick gift for a friend or a relative. I reach for my file folders, inks, mists, stamps and or stickers to come up with something that is inexpensive yet meaningful. My challenge to you this month is to create a tag for a present, a book mark or a holiday tag for a tree from a standard file folder.
Here is one I created last year as a gift book mark.

Create a Christmas card from this sketch. Be sure to include a "traditional" Christmas symbol somewhere on your card. Examples could be: Santa, reindeer, snowman, angel, star, bells, snowflake, gingerbread man, etc…..

Christmas is one of my favorite seasons with all the gorgeous colors. For this month's color challenge, you have a choice of two combinations: either purple and gold (metallic) or red and gold (metallic)! Both of them just look so rich and create a beautiful backdrop for your more elegant holiday photos or even just everyday photos!

For this challenge you will create a layout using a countdown method of items. I will list five different kinds of things (eg. elements, papers, photos) for you to use in your layout. Every month there will be five new items for you to use. And for this month, the theme is cold! Be it cold weather, clothing you wera in the cols, even cold foods, I want your page to have a "cold" theme!
5 – Blue Elements (any kind)
4 – Ribbons/Strings
3 – Glittery or Icy looking Elements
2 – Different Papers
1 – Picture of a "Cold Themed" item
You are welcome to use more than these items (eg. 3 papers instead of 2 is fine) just as long as you meet the required list and numbers asked for each. An example is seen below.
Die Cut Challenge – By Dianedi (Diane)

Using your Cricut or other die-cutting machine such as the Sizzix or Silhouette, create a project you can use for decoration or gift-giving during the holidays. (frame, placecard, etc…)
There must be a least 3 elements on your project using the die-cutting machine. Please list the machine and cartridges you've used! For my project, I've created a fun place card to use during the holidays. Have fun!

December Faithbooking Challenge – "O Come, O Come Emmanuel"
The preparation for the celebration of our Lord's birth begins four Sundays before Christmas Day. This begins the period known as the Advent season. Advent centers on the Old Testament prophecies concerning a coming Messiah and His establishment of an earthly kingdom. The Messiah's coming was prophesied six hundred years before His birth. At the time, the Jewish people were living in captivity in Babylon. For centuries thereafter, faithful Jews earnestly anticipated the Deliverer-Messiah with great long and expectation, echoing the prayer that He would "ransom captive Israel." And finally the long awaited heavenly announcement came – "Unto you is born this day in the day in the city of David a Saviour, which is Christ the Lord!" (Luke 2:11 KJV).
"O Come, O Come, Emmanuel" was originally used in the medieval church liturgy as a series of antiphons – short musical statements that were sung for the week of vesper services just before Christmas Eve. Each of these antiphons greets the anticipated Messiah with one of the titles ascribed Him throughout the Old Testament: Wisdom, Emmanuel, The Lord of Might, The Rod of Jesse, Dayspring, and The Key of David.
The haunting modal melody for the verses is also of ancient origin. It is based on one of the earliest forms of sacred music known – the chant or plainsong.
He will be great and will be called the Son of the Most High. The Lord God will give him the throne of his father David, and he will reign over the houe of Jacob forever; his kingdom will never end. ~ Luke 1:32-33
