Now that the holidays are over and things have returned to normal around here at ACOT – however the word ‘normal’ is defined – we’re back on track with our weekly email newsletters. I hope your holidays were as special as mine were. I always look forward to the Christmas morning cinnamon rolls & coffee, the kids opening their gifts, and of course the usual mess that follows. Did you take lots of pictures? I think I have enough pictures to last lifetime of scrappy moments.

Valentine’s Day is just around the corner and some of the sweetest arrivals are showing up here every day. Some of these have quickly become my favorites; I’d like to share them with you!

Creative Team Reveal – KI Memories

Using the pop culture line from KI Memories proved to be a lot of fun!  The creative team found a lot of great uses for these products and especially liked using the coordinating chipboard to add color and dimension.  Double-sided papers meant there were lots of coordinating scraps left to play with as well!   Let’s face it – we all need a little bit of color during the winter!

*Puppies* by Jackie Pettit

This colorful paper really draws attention to Jackie’s photos!  She created dimension using coordinating chipboard accents and used rub-ons to complete her perfectly placed title. Cute!

What a great girly layout!  Using the flowered paper as her frame for the layout, Jackie places the focus on her beautiful photo.   KI’s lace cardstock is so fun to play with – it can be used in part, in whole, or even to cut individual flowers from – the pink really pops out with her black cardstock background here.  Of course, who doesn’t love coordinating chipboard?!

Kathy really fell in love with this line of paper – what a great color scheme!  She wanted to use colorful accents to set off the black and white to make her layout really pop.  The chipboard shapes went so well with the alphas that she couldn’t resist using a flower in place of an "o" to match the other chipboard flowers! 

 *Barcelona Tapas* by Katarria

 Forever a fan of flowers, Kathy hand cut them from her patterned paper to use as accents on this layout.  Using scraps from her previous page, she printed journaling that her dad wrote to add a personal feel to the layout (which is part of an ongoing gift album).  KI’s red paper helped bring her photos together in the center and gave the layout an added pop of color!

 Before she put away the last of her scraps, Kathy couldn’t resist putting together this cute little card!  Scraps from KI Memories are just too cute to throw away, right?!lly

 Could this layout get any cuter?!  Melissa’s placement of the chipboard frame is a great way to draw attention to her adorable photo.  Pairing bright colors and funky accents together is often a perfect combination, as Melissa has proven!  Watch out Hollywood!

The Aftermath

Well, hurricane Christmas has officially left the Ranch.  I finally put the last box of Christmas goodies up in the attic.  It’s insane how many boxes I own dedicated to this holiday. I have boxes for ornaments, lights, snowmen, pillows, artwork, kitchen stuff, heck, I actually have a box for boxes.  I have enough wrapping paper to easily last 3 lifetimes.  And I can’t seem to stop shopping.

I love me an after holiday sale.  Anything 50% off must be worth buying and if it’s more like 75-90%?  Forgettaboutit!  I added ornaments, snowmen and pillows to my boxes as well as gifts for next year.  Stocking stuffers and outfits for pictures next year were a big bonus too.  Of course, if pictures next year are anything like our fiasco trip this year I probably wasted a fair amount of money on those.

I managed to pick up some new storage containers this year too.  Very helpful for loading up enough decorations for a small village.  I took the time to sort and label my boxes this time.  I can’t wait to go up into the attic next year and open a box and not be totally surprised by what I may find in there.  And that last extra container I bought for bags and bags of bows should come in real handy.  Now if I could just be sure that all of my birthday, wedding and baby shower gifts needed red, white and green bows I might be able to use a third of them before I Will the rest of them to my children.
