All About Me Challenge by milmomma (Brittney)

December is all about Christmas to me and the holidays. I absolutely love decorating the house and tree. I love the way it bring it all happiness to the family. What is your favorite part of the holidays?

Card Challenge by FairyMouseMom (Egle)

(paper, digital, or hybrid challenge)

"A Little Bit of Clustering"

Part 1: The Card Challenge for December 2011 is for you to create a little bit of clustering on your card...that you put together yourself....not already created. That means, whether you do this challenge digitally or via paper, YOU are the one creating your own cluster.

Part 2: Make this a season appropriate card for where YOU live. Here in the US - in the midwest - we are starting our Winter season in December. Soon enough (and I can wait) we will be experiencing that "lovely" white stuff. What is it like where you live?

My clustering was grouping a bunch of the snowflakes on top of each other to form a corner grouping....and then hung the mittens underneath them....to make a corner cluster. And, to make it season appropriate....this is a winter card by using the snowflakes, mittens, and snowman!

and the digital image.....what I produced digitally to make the card:

Color Challenge by Art_Teacher (Laura)

(paper, digital, or hybrid challenge)

When we think of December, we often think of Christmas colors, red and green. For this challenge, however, I would like to challenge you to go softer. Pinks and pale greens can also be used in combination for those Christmas photos. You must use mostly pinks and lighter greens, although you may use neutral accents.

Countdown Challenge by sarahwhithers (Jennifer)

(paper, digital, or hybrid challenge)

For this challenge you will create a layout using a countdown method of items. I will list five different kinds of things (eg. elements, papers, photos) for you to use in your layout. Every month there will be five new items for you to use. And for this month, I know December is all about the holidays and snow and cold, but I'm making this a free for all theme. So anything to your hearts desire you can scrap about, of course, just use the items I've listed:

5 - Lines of Journaling
4 - Elements of your choice
3 - Paint splats/strokes (rub-ons that look like paint are good too)
2 - Flowers
1 - Template or sketch

(paper challenge)

The Manufacturer this month is American Crafts!

Movie Buff Challenge by Mommybruno (Cassandra)

(paper, digital, or hybrid challenge)

For this challenge we'll be drawing our inspiration from a movie. I will supply you with the movie and a pic of the movie poster. The rest is up to you. And there is lots of inspiration available - from the poster, the title, the soundtrack, the theme of the movie, the actors, movie quotes, you name it! Just be sure to note in your description what it was that inspired your layout.

This month's movie is: High Fidelity

Movie tagline (for extra inspiration): A comedy about fear of commitment, hating your job, falling in love and ohter pop favorites.

Music Challenge by Mommybruno (Cassandra)

(paper, digital, or hybrid challenge)

This month we're going on the road! Whether you're taking a big trip or just going to Grandma's house for the holidays, the challenge this month is to use a travel-themed song on a layout.

One Word Challenge by Jenn Kellams (Jennifer K.)

(paper, digital, or hybrid challenge)

For the month of December, THANKFUL is the magic word! You must use THANKFUL somewhere on your page.

Photography Challenge by nun69 (Angie)

so show us how you celebrate this holiday season! This is one of my favorite pictures of my oldest daughter opening her laptop last year! She still didn't believe it was a laptop even when she saw the box! {We are famous for wrapping things in boxes that have something totally different inside form what the box says}

For future reference: Rachel may look through the gallery for pages to base future sketches off of. If you have a page that you love that is not created from an already existing sketch, you could be chosen!

Trends and Techniques Challenge by Megamay (Meg)

(paper, digital, or hybrid challenge)

This month I have a trend and a technique in one! I challenge you to use fabric on your layout. There are lots of options for this. You can dig up some fabric scraps and use them just like patterned paper. Or you can cut them into shapes and make custom embellishmnets. Or, you can use some pre-made fabric embellishments like Pink Paislee's mistables. 'Ribbon' made from fabric, like my example, is ok. But regular ribbon - like grosgrain or sheer, or wired - does not count for this challenge.

On this page, I used some plain muslin and hand cut it into scallops, then stamped and inked it.

and here is a flower that I created using  some of the leftover scalloped muslin from the page, but this time I used it plain.
