June Challenges! 12 comments

We're heating up your scrap rooms with all these ideas!

Posted by ScrapGoo

June!  The official start of Summer will soon be upon (most of) us and you can almost feel it in the air.  Soon the kids will be home all day and the temperatures will climb.  You'll simply be forced to escape with your scrapbook supplies and get some layouts done!  Here is another dose of inspiration from the Creative Team to help you out with that!

Remember:

- only one LO per challenge will enter you into the points drawing

- LOs cannot be entered into more than one challenge category

- *please* only enter LOs that meet the specific challenge instructions

Ad Inspiration Challenge - By MamaK321 (Kristianne)

Paper or Digital Scrapbooking

Ad inspiration is about taking ideas, such as colors, patterns, title or keywords, theme, font styles, and element placement, and using them to create your own layout. You can break the ad inspiration down to a basic sketch, copy a prominent design straight from the ad, or you can alter a design to fit your own layout. Most ads are 8.5x11" but you can adapt the ad to fit any size. Remember, this is not a sketch and you are not required to follow every detail. You can use either one or both pages of this ad to inspire your layout. The key is to really LOOK at the ad and find the pieces that INSPIRE you!

Altered Object Challenge - By JulesinParadise (Jules)

Paper or Hybrid Scrapbooking

This month I challenge you to use a common item most all of us have around our houses: tissue paper. You may use this to create a card with an embellishment or an embellishment to use on a layout or on an altered item. The more you use, the better the results. You can crumple it, ink it, stamp it, fringe it...let your imagination be your guide. I can't wait to see what you all do with this one!

Card Challenge - By bluejeans7 (Angela)

Paper or Digital Scrapbooking

One of my favorite techniques is distressing. I totally love the look and I think it's a great technique to use when you are creating masculine cards. So this month you need to use distressing on a Father's Day card. Sanding, inking, tearing, etc......

Color Challenge - by Art_Teacher (Laura)

Paper or Digital Scrapbooking

Analogous colors are colors that sit side-by-side on the color wheel. These color schemes are used to create harmony. For example, green, yellow, and orange or as in my layout, blue, green, and yellow. For this challenge, you should choose one set of three analogous colors and create your layout. The only other colors used can be neutrals, black, white, grey, and cream.

Countdown Challenge - By sarahwhithers (Jennifer)

Paper or Digital Scrapbooking

For this challenge you will create a layout using a countdown method of items. I will list five different kinds of things (eg. elements, papers, photos) for you to use in your layout. Every month there will be five new items for you to use. This month I thought of summer and being outside by the pool!

5 - star elements
4 - lines of journaling
3 - wavy elements (can be a flourish, wavy strings or ribbons, anything as long as it's wavy!)
2 - pictures
1 - water themed item (can be an element, paper, picture, anything as long as it related to water)

You are welcome to use more than these items (eg. 5 lines fo journaling instead of 4 is fine) just as long as you meet the required list and numbers asked for each. A page example is seen below.

Die Cut Challenge - By Dianedi (Diane)

Paper  Scrapbooking

For the month of June, create a vacation layout using your die-cutting tools such as a Cricut, Silhouette, Sizzix or other die-cutting tools. At least 50% of your layout must be created using your die-cutting tools! In your description, please list the tools and cartridges you have used! Have fun!

Faithbooking Challenge - By Keling (Sara)

Paper or Digital Scrapbooking

JUNE FAITHBOOKING CHALLENGE - My Savior's Love

"In the early 1900s, Charles H. Gabriel was the king of gospel music. Gabriel wrote the words and music for a number of hymns used by popular evangelists of his day such as Billy Sunday and his song leader, Homer Rodeheaver.

"Gabriel's hymns reflect a change in the style of gospel music. In the 1800s, hymns were deeply meaningful and often meditative. But with the revivals of Moody and Sunday, Christians to love songs that were fun to sing, highly energetic and easy to remember. Perhaps Gabriel's most popular hymn is 'Oh That Will Be Glory For Me' with its rousing chorus. He also wrote 'Send the Light.'

"These songs, like 'My Savior's Love,' focus on a simple emotion and celebrate it. In this case, it is raw amazement at the magnitude of Christ's sacrifice. How can we help but 'stand amazed' in His presence? How marvelous! How wonderful!"

Charles Hutchinson Gabriel (1856-1932)

Romans 5:6, 8 - When we were utterly helpless, Christ came at just the right time and died for us sinners.... God showed his great love for us by sending Christ to die for us while we were still sinners.

Taken from Great Songs of Faith, April 8.

Heritage Challenge - By JanetM (Janet)

Paper AND Digital Scrapbooking

Heritage can go in so many directions; you can scrap old photos with traditional "heritage" colors or you can add some new colors, ribbons and embellishments. There's no wrong or right way to scrap the old pictures.

There is one thing that is important though: telling a story or something from the era it was taken in.  This month's challenge is to use a picture and tell me a story about it. I want you to pass on something that you don't want to forget.  Summer is starting soon so use a picture that is just an ordinary day, unposed and something that no one would know what the story is behind it or the memory is.

I chose a couple of examples to use this month.  One is just a picture that's been tossed in a box of my mother hanging up clothes in the backyard. The second one is one of my daughter Julie when she was almost two. The picture is in really bad shape with some finger prints on it but I don't have very many of her from then and I just like the picture. Two eras with the Little Yellow Bicycle line: one from 1957 and the other from 1970. It's a great paper line to work with.

Let's dance this month. Maybe you have Prom or Homecoming pictures still to scrap. Maybe you will be attending a June wedding, maybe you just danced the night away with your girlfriends or spent the night dancing under the star with that special someone. No matter what the subject I bet you have photos that will fit this month's theme..."dance" I want you to use a song with DANCE in the title as your inspiration this month. So pump up the volume and get your scrap on.

Here is my example...I used the song Dance with Me by Orleans.
