Only treats in here!

Posted by ScrapGoo

Finally, there is a chill in the air!  I can't tell you how excited I am for the turning leaves, apple cider, and sweaters!  There's nothing like a change of seasons to rejuvenate your imagination.  Fresh color combos are popping up everywhere and October heralds the excitement of the coming holidays.  This month the Creative Team is excited to bring you a whole pillow case full of treats (no tricks!) to get you scrapping!

Remember:

- only one LO per challenge will enter you into the points drawing

- LOs cannot be entered into more than one challenge category

- *please* only enter LOs that meet the specific challenge instructions

Ad Inspiration Challenge - By MamaK321 (Kristianne)

Paper or Digital Scrapbooking

Ad inspiration is about taking ideas, such as colors, patterns, title or keywords, theme, font styles, and element placement, and using them to create your own layout. You can break the ad inspiration down to a basic sketch, copy a prominent design straight from the ad, or you can alter a design to fit your own layout. Most ads are 8.5x11" but you can adapt the ad to fit any size. Remember, this is not a sketch and you are not required to follow every detail. You can use either one or both pages of this ad to inspire your layout. The key is to really LOOK at the ad and find the pieces that INSPIRE you!

Card Challenge - By bluejeans7 (Angela)

Paper or Digital Scrapbooking

Glimmer Mist it baby! I recently started playing with Glimmer Mist and I love it. I want you to pull out your Glimmer Mist too and use it on your card. I Glimmer Misted a 5"x8" piece of chipboard and also a chipboard circle on my card.

Color Challenge - by Art_Teacher (Laura)

Paper or Digital Scrapbooking

One color that I do not use very often is orange. However, when I think of October, orange is definitely one of the main colors I see from bright orange pumpkins to rusty orange leaves. It definitely says Fall to me. So, your challenge this month is to create a layout that uses at least 50% orange, in any shade you like. You may pair it with whatever colors you like, brown, green, black, even blue, but at least half your layout has to be orange.

Countdown Challenge - By sarahwhithers (Jennifer)

Paper or Digital Scrapbooking

For this challenge you will create a layout using a countdown method of items. I will list five different kinds of things (eg. elements, papers, photos) for you to use in your layout. Every month there will be five new items for you to use. This month, in honor of Thanksgiving in Canada (happens in October) I thought we'd make a page about food!

5 - Leaves/branches or fruits/veggies
4 - Different kinds of papers (and kind)
3 - Ribbons/Strings
2 - Food themed pictures
1 - Food element (sticker, rub-on, etc..)

You are welcome to use more than these items (eg. 5 papers instead of 4 is fine) just as long as you meet the required list and numbers asked for each. An example is seen below.

Die Cut Challenge - By Dianedi (Diane)

Paper  Scrapbooking

For the die-cutting challenge for October, create a card or layout using a theme of fall! It could be fall, apple picking, pumpkin picking, or Halloween! Your project must have at least two embellishments created with a die-cutting machine. (Cricut, Sizzix, Silhouette etc.) Please be sure to specify what die-cutting machine and/or cartridges you've used in your description. Have fun!

Digi CT Reveal Challenge - By Janello (Janell)

Paper or Digital Scrapbooking

For October take inspiration from this Digital CT Reveal: "Man's Best Friend". So let's see a pet or animal inspired layout!

Welcome to another edition of Digi Do-Ables!

This month the template was made using an original layout by nonnies.  Go into the Digi Shoppe and use that template to create your own layout. Flip it, change it, or just use it as it is, it's up to you!

Faithbooking Challenge - By Keling (Sara)

Paper or Digital Scrapbooking

Stand Up For Jesus, by George Duffield
(From the book, "Amazing Grace: 366 Inspiring Hymn Stories for Daily Devotions" by Kenneth W. Osbeck.)

"A great city-wide revival swept across Philadelphia in 1858. It was called 'the work of God in Philadelphia.' Of the participating ministers none was more powerful than twenty-nine-year-old Episcopalian, Dudley Tyng, who was known as a bold and uncompromising preacher.

"In addition to pastoring his own church, Dudley Tyng began holding noonday services at the downtown YMCA. Great crowds came to hear this dynamic young preacher. On Tuesday, March 30, 1858, over five thousand men gathered for a noon mass meeting to Tyng preach from the text, 'Go now ye that are men, and serve the LORD' (Exod. 10:11 KJV). Over one thousand of these men committed their lives to Christ. At one point, the young preacher exclaimed,

" 'I must tell my Master's errand, and I would rather that this right arm were amputated at the trunk than that I should come short of my duty to you in delivering God's message.'

"The very next week, while visiting in the country and watching the operation of a corn threshing machine in a barn, young Tyng accidently caught his loose sleeve between the cogs; the arm was lacerated severely with the main artery severed and the median nerve injured. As a result of shock and a great loss of blood, the Rev. Dudley Tyng died.

"On his deathbed when asked by a group of sorrowing friends and ministers for a final statement, he feebly whispered, 'Let us all stand up for Jesus.'

"The next Sunday, Tyng's close friend and fellow worker, the Rev. George Duffield, pastor of the Temple Presbyterian Church in Philadelphia, preached his morning sermon as a tribute to his departed friend. He closed his sermon by reading a poem that he had just finished writing, inspired, as he told his people, by the dying words of his esteemed friend."

Finally, be strong in the Lord and in his mighty power. ~ Ephesians 6:10

Heritage Challenge - By JanetM (Janet)

Paper AND Digital Scrapbooking

Your Influence from the Past

Wouldn't it be nice if the people that touched or shaped our life had a chance to know what they did for us? We know it's not possible if that person is no longer with us. This month I want a picture of someone from YOUR past that influenced you in some way - write them a note and tell them how they shaped your life.

I used a picture of my maternal grandmother and told about how much the way her family was important to her has been carried on by me in my life.
I'm looking forward to seeing what everyone does this month.

Hybrid Challenge - By Smiley-Scrap8 (Ronny)

Paper AND Digital Scrapbooking

Make a layout using a journaling spot made from digital supplies. For example, I used some background paper from SAS Designs and a bubble frame from Danielle Young Designs to make my journaling spot. Before I printed it, I filled it up with all of my journaling. After printing I cut it out, attached to my page and embellished with some flowers.

Journaling Challenge - By Jenn Kellams (Jenn)

Paper or Digital Scrapbooking

For the month of October I would like for you to journal about something you "believe" in. What makes you so happy? What are you passionate about? Let us know.

The month of October is Quick Quotes!

Musical Inspiration Challenge - By Kimandasmo (Cindy)

Paper or Digital Scrapbooking

I know it is a little cliche but it is October, the month of Halloween. I want you to use a "spooky" song as inspiration for your layout. Remember it does not have to be a Halloween themed layout... just use a spooky song.

I chose to us Thriller as my song...

One Word Challenge - By Jenn Kellams (Jenn)

This is the October One Word Challenge. Your word this month is "super"! Scrap about something that is super to you and be sure you use the word in your title or make it stand out significantly in your journaling.

- mist or paint
- buttons
- pop dots or foam tape

Theme Challenge - By ScrapGoo (Jess)

Paper or Digital Scrapbooking

I am going to go obvious this month and ask you to scrap a costume!  But, it doesn't have to be a Halloween costume!  I chose to scrap my little guy in his first Renaissance faire garb... an annual tradition for my husband and I.  Clearly you CAN scrap a Halloween costume but any non-traditional outfit is fair game.

Trends & Techniques Challenge - By Megamay (Meg)

Paper Scrapbooking

Have you noticed a lot of hot air balloons and cabbage roses coming out in the new products?

Cabbage roses:

Hot air balloons:

So that is your challenge this month, to use either cabbage roses or hot air balloons (or both) in your project this month. Here is one that I created using cabbage roses:

How is it that I never saw this link on the home page before? Oh yeah, it is because I always go directly to the boards and never look around. Well I have a week and a few have inspired me so maybe I might attempt one this week.

Hearts0314, I am fairly sure altered items are just fine! If you really want to make sure you can send a private message to the owners of those specific challenges and check with them. :-)
