New Puppy Scrapbook Layout – The Cherry Blog

Hello! It’s Jennie McGarvey and I have a different (for me!) type of project for you! My family recently had a new puppy join our family and we are so smitten with her. It was time to create some memory-keeping layouts documenting this sweet time, so I decided to start with an 8.5×11″ layout as her announcement, if you will.

New Puppy Scrapbook Layout

I am absolutely in love with the American Crafts + Paige Evans collection, Blooming Wild. I love the patterns and I really love the colors. My absolute favorite part is the Alpha Shapes (though I really do love the Gathered Alpha Thickers, too!). I knew I wanted those to be the focal point of the layout and that I would use them to spell out our puppy’s name. These are so incredibly easy to use and make a big impact. I already want another package and I’ve used them on two layouts already!

To accent the Rigby alphas, I wanted to use the Thickers to add the subtext, which is Eleanor. (The dog’s name is Rigby, but the inspiration is from the song Eleanor Rigby by the Beatles.) These are so cute and the font is really fun to use. I also love the colors and how cheerful they are!

When it came time to add embellishments I knew I wanted to keep it minimal to keep the focus on the photo. The main accents would come from the Ephemera Icons, as they are just so playful and really give the perfect feeling to the page. However, I couldn’t resist sprinkling in a piece from both the Journaling Ephemera and the Mini Frames.

If you have not picked up the beautiful Blooming Wild collection, I highly recommend it. It’s a lot of fun to use and really cute. I’m already making lists of other ways I will use it! Get your favorite pieces at A Cherry On Top!
