Spellbinders All Occasion Bow Die Projects

Hey Cherries! Natalie here today bringing an off-the-page papercrafting project that can be put back on the scrapbook page, or used in a variety of different ways like home decor, holiday decor, gifts, and more! I got the new All Occasion Bow die from Spellbinders & it sparked so many fun ideas, It is quite large and would make a wonderful statement piece on a scrapbook layout. However, I was also inspired to use it to create projects for outside the scrapbook page!

I created two Hogwarts themed bows to use on gift wrapping for my son's birthday gifts.

I used the die as intended on one, by creating the base with maroon cardstock and then using the yellow glitter page from the Memory Box 6×6 paper pad to create the stripes in the colors of the Gryffindor house. I popped up the middle "knot" on foam tape to enable me to tie twine around it and attach a charm.

I also jumped aboard the resurgence of the friendship bracelet trend and created customized bracelets for my kids to wear to the Wizarding World of Harry Potter! These large bows are wonderful receptacles for giving small gifts like homemade, personalized bracelets.

For the other Hogwarts themed bow, I used the scattered stars foil plate by Waffle Flower crafts to foil in gold atop the maroon cardstock. I cut the pieces first, and then I was able to use up some of my foiling scraps on the smaller sized die cuts. After assembly, I used the Tuxedo wax melts from Honey Bee stamps to apply a wax seal atop an "owl" feather. I then also added an owl epoxy clip from Paper House Productions to stay on theme.

I created a happy and bright bow that can have so many different uses out of the new Flower Child collection by Jen Hadfield. I cut the bow out of a rainbow paper from the 6×8 paper pad – careful to keep the rainbow flowing from one side of the bow to the other, and matching up the bottom "ribbons" with the top of the bow. I then popped up the middle "knot" on foam tape and used some twine to whimsically tie an acrylic smiley to the bow. I also added a die cut butterfly on the bow's corner. This would be a fun addition to a party decor banner or even a cake topper!

I think a super ethereal and beautiful bow can be created out of vellum paper. I embellished this one with my favorite embellishments – 49 & Market rub-on stickers! I used the new Spice collection and placed them around the bow vellum. I did use some glitter cardstock for the middle knot to give a pop of pink  and avoid seeing the adhesive at this conjunction point. I added another adorable forest creature clip from Paper House Productions to go along with the autumn themed bow. It would be a super cute addition to some fall home decor or a great statement on a greeting card. I think even the vellum by itself would be a beautiful, simple look for a project.

How about a "man" bow? If you need to jazz up a boring package, but want to keep it masculine, try this one. I cut the bow out of a wood grain paper and roughed up the edges for a nice, distressed feel. I stamped a phrase on the ribbon with Brutus Monroe pigment ink in "Alabaster." This is a great way to customize your gift wrapping and add the recipient's name! Lastly, I once again popped up the "knot" on foam tape and used twine to attach a couple of "manly" tool charms. I love how they have an interactive dangle. Switch the tools for small jingle bells and you have a lovely, rustic gift topper to place under the Christmas tree!

Lastly, I created a bow with filling. This was a bit time consuming, but I think the end result was well worth the effort. I created two cuts of each bow piece – the backing out of vellum paper and the front out of Cherry acetate sheets. You could also achieve a similar look with only acetate sheets. I then sewed the front and back together, leaving a slit on one side to use to fill the piece. I used some iridescent "snow" confetti from my stash, but you could also use glitter or sequins. Once filled, I then sewed up the remaining opening and assembled the pieces together. The result was a winter wonderland bow that is beautiful enough to adorn your Christmas tree! These are very sturdy and could be used in all sorts of holiday or winter decor. They're also beautiful atop a package of a worthy recipient. A collection of them dangling from clear fishing line from the ceiling would be a lovely and unique focal point or party decor photo op!

You can see all the bows up close and detailed on my YouTube channel. I will discuss some tips on the proper adhesive for each type of product you're using to create the bow and show you the assembly details. There are also few friendship bracelet tips if you'd like to use the bows as "gift wrap" for a homemade accessory any Swiftie would love.

I hope you're inspired to gather your embellishments and create papercrafting projects beyond the scrapbook page!
