This month on Technique Tuesdays we are sharing some of our favorite ways to add texture to our projects! In this video, Jess is using crackling color paste, tulle, and a wood embroidery hoop to add texture.

For the shaker element, I only wanted to use clear or smaller elements. Because this shaker has a photo in it, I didn’t want the faces covered very much so it is not very full, just enough to look like snow. I found that using sequins didn’t work well because they do not move around as much as the plastic beads and would get stuck over the faces.

I have a few embellishment clusters around the page. I think layering them is important and gives a better look overall. I loved layering with the 49 and Market tickets and they come in so many colors it is easy to match with the collection you’re working with. The mesh was also a great layering tool that added a little more texture.

This layout would have been way too busy if I hadn’t partially painted over the background with white crackle paint. I love the added texture the crackle adds to the background.
