Memory Planning Thoughts

Hello! It’s Jennie McGarvey and I am back with a memory planner and some thoughts about memory planning.
Memory planning is something I have been doing for years. For quite a few years I had a fairly routine way of doing things and I’ve found things have changed a bit in the past year or so. For some reason, I’ve been using more photos than I have historically. Or, it feels that way, at least. This overabundance of photos has really changed my memory planning. How? Because I have so many photos, I have to keep the rest of the layout really simple. I haven’t been using as many embellishments as I used to.

What does this mean? Why am I sharing this? It’s important to evaluate the process and how you feel about your projects. I know that I love to use a visual triangle. I know I love to layer patterned papers, stickers, and die cuts. (Rub-ons, too!) Those things haven’t changed and they still show up in my project.

For example, when you look at this layout you can see the three clusters. In this case, they are all different. One, I used a patterned paper tag with stickers. Next, stickers and stamps are combined together. Lastly, there are simply stickers. All of these Doodlebug Designs Sweet & Spooky products are the perfect embellishments for my stories.

As I mentioned above, there are so many photos on this layout. (10 in total.) Because of this, I only added a few extra stickers as companions to my photos, and a couple of sections for journaling. Keeping it simple allows me to have room for the extra photos and to vary my style a bit from the norm.

I am a big fan of trying new things and changing things up in my paper crafting. I think remaining flexible is the key to finishing projects and loving those projects!
