I have been making an "ABC About Me" album, with the intention of helping my kids to get to know me as "Nancy" and not just "Mom." Unfortunately, I lost a lot of the layouts when my computer crashed. I've been remaking them, and this is one of the remakes.
Journaling reads: The concept of “joy” is so difficult to define. From the pure joy on a bride’s face, to the quiet joy of watching the sun rise over Lake Huron and knowing another day lies ahead, mine for the making. There was a Coke commercial in the 1970’s during which no one ever spoke. It simply showed a young, blonde, curly haired boy chortling with unbridled laughter as a bunch of puppies jumped all over him. At the very end of the commerical, the announcer came on with “Coke...it’s the real thing.” That boy’s life epitomized a moment of pure joy. I often joke that I am easily amused, but this is not a bad thing. I can find joy in the simple things...from finding a crocus bud peeking through the last snow of a long winter, to having a loved one walk through my front door, to the simple fun of finding a hotel called the “Flamingo Hotel” and stopping to take pictures of their outdoor decorations. Joy...so hard to find for some, yet simple to experience, if we but seek to experience the little things. After all, joy is not in the things, it is in US.
