This is a "soda" or salt lake in Ngorongoro Crater in Tanzania. The lake was full of flamingos and it was a stunning sight. Some people believe that this volcanic crater, about 9000 feet above sea level, was the location of the "Garden of Eden" - I don't know what that is based upon....but the place was truly breathtaking. I especially like this photo because almost all of the birds have their heads in the water drinking.
