This layout was inspired by Amy's (Moody) "Slow Down Just a Little" layout about her kids growing up too fast. I've had the exact same feelings about my own kids. Amy's layout actually brought tears to my eyes! This is my take on the same topic. I took the picture of my kids over the weekend in our backyard. That's my son's new "pose." He does it whenever I take his picture and (as you can see) it cracks his sister up! He is 6 (soon to be 7) and she is 3 (soon to be 4).
Journaling (hidden behind photo, pull up with ribbon):
I confess. I got misty at the McMillin Talent Show the other night. The three of us went by ourselves. We walked up to the school and walked home together. We enjoyed the show so much! Rosie—you bounced on my lap and danced to the music by my seat. Thomas—you played air guitar and air piano, sang to the songs and were particularly impressed with the karate demonstration.
Most of all, neither of you had any second thoughts about being with me! Mommy is still cool. Mommy is still fun. Thomas says he wants to marry me and Rosie says I am her best friend. I know my days are numbered. As I looked around the auditorium, I could see the angst that seems to grow with each passing year. Kindergarteners and first graders still sit happily with their parents, but fifth and sixth graders sit with their friends. Boys and girls tease each other, whisper in each other's ears and try out the latest slang words. Moms and dads pick up and drop off.
It's not that I don't want you to grow up. Honest! I look forward to each year we will get to spend together. But right now, being Super Mommy, having you both so agreeable, adorable and enthusiastic, it's just so…nice! I wish I could freeze you both in time and enjoy you this way for just a little bit longer.
