This is my brother, Jeff, holding my husband's brother's (my neice) new daughter, Odelia. Jeff and my husband's brother, Kyle, are the same age, and were introduced by me and my husband to each other years ago and were the very best of friends until Kyle met his future wife. :)

I invited Jeff to come to my birthday dinner with the Steenbliks. It was the first time Jeff had met Carleigh or Odelia. In fact, it was the first time in a very long time that Jeff and Kyle had seen each other. It was so wonderful to be able to see the two of them together, laughing and telling stories to each other like no time had passed. And, to fly in the face of tradition, Kyle actually got the baby out of her carrier right away for Jeff to hold! While distance and lifestyle have gotten in the way of Jeff and Kyle’s friendship, it’s so good for me to feel that my brother is welcome in my husband’s family. Everybody was so glad to see him, and Jeff seemed to have a good time with everybody. I know that the entire family has no problem with Jeff being an honorary uncle to any kids that are born into this family!
