This beloved boulder was painted and repainted with messages over many years. We loved looking for it along the road every time we drove up to Bellingham. The DOT decided they needed to remove it as part of a project to reroute the freeway so salmon could swim through the area. Instead of moving the Rock, they broke it into thousands pieces, and with it thousands of hearts.
