Hokusai Art Journal Pages

by MargieHAug 3, 2026
For the weekly art journal sketch challenge (#85), I used 6x8" patterned papers from the Beach Vibes Collection (49 and Market) for the page bases...it's beautiful!

It is the perfect backdrop for an outing with two girlfriends to view the Hokusai Exhibition in suburban Chicago. Hokusai is a Japanese woodblock printer master and one of his famous work is the Great Wave Off Kanagawa piece...it is my favorite :)

Left Page: I used a piece of vellum to journal with the LePen in Steel Blue and secured it with the E-Z Runner Permanent Fine (aka the Vellum Runner from Scrapbook Adhesives by 3L)...it disappears into the vellum. Then I die-cut letters (I-Crafter) for Hokusai in white cardstock that I colored in LePen Flex in Steel Blue (the flex has a slight brush tip). I rolled the E-Z Dots Permanent over the thin letters before placing them on the page.

Right Page: The focal point is the die-cut wave shape (it's PERFECT for this project - lol!) in two different cardstock colors. It is the Layered Wave Die from The Ton Stamp. I printed two film strips of our outing from lunch to the exhibition to a winery. I used the collection's washi tape to make a hinge to bind the two strips.

LOVED how this turned out and is one of my favorite art journal pages to date...ask me in a few days...I probably have another. LOL!!

Thanks for letting me play along!
