2 Cool Kids
by JillybeansJul 16, 2007
Last year's photo of my DS&D. I love this photo of them but I adore my journaling notes about this moment even more. TFL
JOURNALING READS:
I asked my teenage son to help me write something about this picture. Well, no sane teenager wants to write about their relationship with their little sister. My son stared back at me as if to say, “Mom, doesn’t everyone think their little sisters are brats. What else is there to say?” I shook my head and mumbled to myself, “yeah right”. It’s funny to think how many people will look at this picture and remark “What beautiful kids. They look like they get along so well together.” This, needless to say, will strike a humorous chord in my mind as I recall the hundred of times I hear screams, hollers and name calling, not to mention the practical jokes, the tickling, the kicking, the pouting, the tattling and the slamming of doors. Yep, don’t be deceived by a pretty face. These are my beautiful children and there is nothing fake or plastic about them. They are real kids with real kid attitudes. They get on each others nerves, but as my son said, “that’s what siblings do.” He does think his sister is beautiful and she acts like his guardian angel when he’s feeling down and blue. So, I’m thankful that at the end of the day, all the love and hate moments between these two washes out in the end. Yep, I wouldn’t trade them for the world. These are my 2 cool kids.
