One of my favorite ways to make colorful patterned papers and mixed media stand out is by pairing them with a black & white photo. Without competing colors in the image, all of the bright layers and details can really shine while still keeping the photo as the focal point.

For this layout, I used the June Kit from The Crafty Maven Getaway to create a vibrant mixed media background layered with colorful patterned papers, embellishments, and plenty of texture. The bold colors frame this fun photo of friends and create a playful, energetic design.

I always enjoy creative prompts that encourage me to look at my photos in a different way, and using a black & white image was the perfect way to let all of the color and mixed media take center stage.
