Collin was the only one this year that got to carve a pumpkin.
All the other kids either worked or had things going on. He
was excited about picking out the pumpkin face. We looked
online and found a face and printed it out. Mom did the cuts
that required careful attention, and Collin scooped the guts out.
He protested, and pouted because he had to touch the pumpkin
guts. He complained, “it’s YUCKY, it’s NASTY! I don’t like
this part”, he said. Finally, we finished and he was so happy. I’m
not sure if he was more happy about finishing his pumpkin or
that he didn’t have to touch the pumpkin guts anymore. I know
in the end he was proud because he would remind me every day
to light his pumpkin.
