Contest/Challenge
This month’s challenge is to use your cookie cutter tool (or similar shape-cutting tool) to create paper-pieced seasonal embellishments. For example, on this card I created a pine tree using upside down hearts digitally cut out of green paper. I inked the edges to help give them definition, and shadowed them to lift the ends up a bit. To make the trunk of the tree I simply used the rectangle cookie cutter. I also created this penguin using just shapes in my cookie cutter! The body is a pear (with the stem erased), the beak is a triangle, and everything else is ovals and half-circles. Inked edges help the different pieces stand out and give them dimension.
So take a look through your cookie cutter options and see what you can do with some of the simple shapes in there. Let your imagination be your guide!
