Two Dear Daughters

by EyesForBeautyJan 31, 2010
Today I searched for backgrounds in the office.microsoft.com (free) clip art web site and found a few that I liked, so of course I had to try using them in some way. My dear sister took the shot of the daughters and my DH (sorry I left you out, sweetie) which I thought would look nice with a soft oval (50px) crop. I like whatever photos I am scrapping to stand out, so I applied 50% noise to the chosen background; I wanted two colors, not just the one, so I desaturated slightly, increased the contrast, lowered the opacity to 50%, and put a two color corner to corner gradient fill layer underneath it; I also added a parchment textured overlay at a scale of 750% at twice usual opacity (because that layer's opacity was already set at 50%). This became the frame for each of the pictures. The under background was made in the same way, but with a different pattern (made from a pretty bird silhouette on a Kleenex box!). Added apple blossom clip art to embellish and decided to apply a scallop edge clipping mask to the frames for more interest. TFL

You really do a good job on each of your layouts. I appreciate all the detail you give on every element in it. I admire how much thoughtful time you spend on each one. Your results are well worth the time you spend.
