Edited to add journaling:
Aunt Betty's house. From the time I was 6 weeks onld until I was 14, I spent countless hours here. Aunt Betty wasn't my "real" aunt. She was my babysitter. But, I felt more at home there than I did at my real aunt's house.
This picture was taken on a trip back to Delaware in 2000. I hadn't been back in 15 years, but Aunt Betty's HAD to be a stop during my weekend. I called Billser about 2 weeks before my trip and asked him if he could get everyone there. He told the others the reason, but left Aunt Betty amd Uncle Bill in the dark. When I got there, I knocked on the door and Uncle Bill opened it. He just let me in like it was an everyday occurence,Aunt Betty jumped up from the dining room table when she saw me.
I had been to church that morning, so we had lunch when I got there. Just like it used to be. We all sat around the dining room table and ate and talked. I showed them pictures od Avery and wished that I had brought him for them to meet. A lot of things in the house were exactly the same. The weirdest change was that instead of a white poodle named Ladt, Billser now had a cat.
It was so good to be there with them, but I disagree with the saying," You can't go home again." I spent hours with them that day and STILL felt like part of the family.
I DID go home again.
The strips contain random memories from the many hours I spent there: Shirley Temple movies, weddings, stopping after church EVERY Sunday, mayonaise biscuits,French toast, Big Wheels, Pitzels, the timeout chair, crabs crawling across the floor,Lady, oven fried chicken, building snowmen in the park.
