My entry into Extra Challenge!
I am absolutely stunned at milmomma's (aka Brittney) gallery! I started from her first layout posted and moved forward. I was so stunned at the progression of her layouts. So many to choose from and what a hard choice. But there is something about the layout chosen that stood out to me, "the owl." I just kept going back to her layout with "the owl!" I guess because my grandmother Dee-Dee always called Papa Red, "The owl". Then I got stuck on which picture to choose to do the layout. I finally started to thumb through photos. This one popped out and I knew immediately I would use Basic Grey Mellow to work with this picture. I chose the bird to top the picture because there is a saying from the Quran. 'And God took a handful of South Wind, blew it across his hand and created the horse so man could fly without wings.' Each and every Arabian I have known has touched my heart so deeply. Belle was my first Arabian to own or rather she owned me. And a granddaughter of my favorite stallion in the breed, Nabiel. He was the son of *Sakr the winningest Arabian in the history of the breed in the show string. I had the pleasure of meeting both stallions and fell in love with them! Belle like Nabiel and *Sakr went on to win a Top Ten at the National Show after we sold her. Her son by Nabiel went on to be a Regional Top Five in Level 1 Dressage. Arabians in my mind beg to be scrapped by deep rich colors so I thought Mellow was perfect.
