Memories of Daddy: Daddy’s birthday falls three days after Christmas, and his mother’s is the day after. For the last few years of his life, Daddy threw a birthday party, and invited family and lots of friends to help him celebrate. Part of the celebration tradition, always included a group of Mariachis to serenade his guests. And the last song played by the musicians, has always been Los Laureles, a ballad about our family name, which is my first name. Last year, with Daddy’s passing, we were not in a position to gather for a celebration. This year, Mom was ready. She gathered friends and family, and the Mariachis came to help honor Daddy’s memory. We miss you, Daddy.
