Fun things to do with Transparencies

I’ve got to admit, when I started planning for this Creative Team reveal, it was going to be all about the adorable baby’s first year mini album I wanted to make as a gift for my niece Mackenzie’s first birthday. I kept with that plan as I ordered up some really fun elements from the Little Yellow Bicycle Baby Girl Safari line, and as I was planning while waiting for my box from A Cherry on Top. Then, when I opened up the box, the first thing that jumped out at me was how GORGEOUS the transparencies I had ordered were! My mind started hopping with creative ideas as I filed through them, and I knew right away that I was going to use EVERY SINGLE ONE of them! And I was going to share it all with you!

Transparencies have lots of fun uses, frames, pages, pockets, and I did a little of each. For my first layout, Beautiful Joyful One

I chose to use it as a photo mat. The swirly pattern goes well with the joyfulness I wanted to convey on the page. I added a little glitter in the form of some Stickles to make it shimmer a bit.

For my next layout, You Are Loved

I used a transparency for the title, layered over another transparency framing the photo. When layering transparencies, it’s easy to adhere them if you plan where your embellishments will go. I added the butterfly punches to cover the pop-dots!

Next, on my Amelia layout,

I thought it would be fun to use one of the transparencies for my title element. It would have been pretty by itself, but I was enticed to make something a little more fun out of it. I stitched three sides of it down to some cardstock, filled it with some seed beads and sequins and stitched it up on the last side to make a shaker box full of movement and fun.

For my last layout, All In

I wanted to share some ideas on how to embellish the transparency. I could have used Prima flowers on top of the flowers already there, or stickles to make them pop a little more, but I already had the beads out from the last layout, so I added them to the pattern on this transparency.

Lastly, I did finish that mini album

and I found a way to use a transparency in it…they make great pages when your chipboard album doesn’t have as many as you’d like to use. For this page, I glued the two photos together, back-to-back, and then adhered them to one side of the transparency, lining them up on with the frame on it. Then, I added some embellishments to finish it off! I have one transparency left, to add two more photos to this album as Mackenzie finishes her first year!
