Echo Park Life is Good 10 comments

Scrapping is Good with such great colors!

I have been loving all of Echo Park's releases, so I was thrilled when I got a chance to do a reveal with their Life is Good collection. I couldn't believe how many different papers you get in the collection pack! Most collection packs give you two of each in order to fill out the pack, but this one has so many awesome papers (all double sided) that the pack is filled up with just one sheet of each. It's great because you get so much variety and every paper is gorgeous. So much so, that I almost wished I had ordered TWO packs! Not only do you get 12 double sided papers, but you also get FOUR alphabets and plenty of fun stickers. This is a seriously great value!

I love these papers so much, but my mojo just wasn't flowing like normal on the weekend that I had set aside to work with them. So, I did what I always do when my mojo eludes me, I used sketches to jump start it.

I started with Juliana's sketch for this month's (August) sketch challenge.

It was perfect for my fox pictures. thanks to carrie123 for the title which she came up with during my title game at the crop. Here, I loved the way the brown back of the paper coordinated with the beehive like front, so I cut a square out from the middle, trimmed it down a little, and flipped it over. I used green cardstock to frame both and separate the two patterns. So, while the background of this page looks highly layered and like I used many sheets of paper, I really only used one patterned paper and one cardstock to create the framed look.

Next, I noticed how gorgeous the aquas are in this line and thought they would be perfect for these photos of my husband and daughter body surfing. I used a pagemaps sketch for this one. I turned the swirl sticker on it's side to evoke a splash. I also hand cut the seagulls from cardstock.

For this page I used a pencil lines sketch. I wanted to give the frame a bit more oomph, so I cut out the center, flocked the pink edge, used glossy accents on the white edge and then outlined the whole thing in brown. Unfortunately you can't see that in this photo. The weather has been really awful here lately, so all of these photos would have been better with more light. *sad face*

I also used the frame sticker to frame one of the journaling spots which I cut from one of the sheets of paper. I saved the other half of the sticker frame for another use. lots of foam tape on here to make the photo stand up over the large websters pages trims. thanks to cimorosete for the title, again from a game I played at the crop.

I couldn't resist using the house stickers to make a housewarming card. This was a super simple card. I cut the little title frame from the same journaling spot piece of paper.

Finally, this one, I wanted to try rolling strips of paper into tubes. Thanks to ashjoy for the title of this one. I had to adapt it a little from her original title, because I didn't have the right letters. But it still works! I used my cricut to cut flowers that resemble the sticker flower (on the top right ) and bring that theme throughout the page. I also used the other half of the sticker frame here and the center that I cut from the frame paper on the dance page.
