Embossing Folders! 12 comments
Posted by bluejeans7 One technique that I love to play around with is embossing. For my reveal I didn't want to just emboss, I wanted to go an extra step with my embossing. First I started with some awesome Tim Holtz Texture Fades (embossing folders) and then I added some ink, played with some Perfect Pearls Mists and Glimmer Mists, and even did a little sanding. If you have not yet tried embossing folders then you need to. It is so much fun and I love the texture it brings to your projects. 3 Boys: This is a photo of my Dad (the oldest boy holding the baby) and his two younger bothers. I started with six rectangle pieces of Grungeboard and embossed them with the Regal Flourishes folder. Then I sprayed them with the Sprout Chalkboard Glimmer Mist. I gave them three coats and allowed them to dry in between coats. Then I inked the edges with Raven Black Color Box ink before gluing them to my layout.
Being Brother & Sister: On this layout I embossed some Bazzill chipboard hearts. Each heart was embossed with a different design: Gridlock, Dot Matrix and Regal Flourishes. After embossing I misted each one a with a different Chalkboard Glimmer Mist: Polka Dot Pink, Alaskan Salmon and Firefly. The Alaskan Salmon heart needed an extra coat more than the other two colors. I wanted to make my hearts stand out against each other so I inked the edges with Color Box Chestnut ink and then used 3D glue dots.
Santa's Little Helpers: This layout was created with NO pattern papers!!! Wow that's a big one for me. LOL! I took the White Bazzill cardstock and embossed it with the Regal Flourishes folder, embossed the Patch Bazzill cardstock with the Dot Matrix folder, and Kisses Bazzill cardstock and embossed it with the Damask folder. Then I lightly sanded the top of the embossed design of the green and red cardstock pieces. Before gluing them down I inked the white pieces with Tim Holtx Old Paper ink, the red pieces with Tim Holtz Fired Brick ink and the green pieces with Tim Holtz Peeled Paint ink. Then I embossed three Maya Road chipboard snowflakes with the Damask folder and misted them with marshmallow Glimmer Mist. As a finishing touch I added a KaiserCraft dark green rhinestone to the snowflake centers. ![]()
Thug Style: This time I used Grungeboard circles to emboss. I embossed three with the Gridlock folder and three with the Dot Martix folder. Then they were sprayed with the Inchworm, Teal High Heel, and Polka Dot Pink Chalkboard Glimmer Mists. I wanted the colors to be really bold and bright so I did four coats of mist, drying between coats. Then I inked the edges with Raven Black Color Box ink.
On both of my cards I wanted the embossed cardstock pieces to be the main focus so I didn't cover them up much. This cardstock piece started out white. It was embossed with the Halloween Words folder adn then heavily misted with the Peach Delight Glimmer Mist. After that dried I sprayed a light mist of the Charcoal Chalkboard Glimmer Mist. My next card I embossed black cardstock with the Cobwebs folder. I then played around with the Perfect Copper Pearl Mist, checking the difference between a light mist and a heavy coat of mist. You can see the differences in the photo below my card. I ended up using the lighter misted cardstock on my card. Perfect Copper Pearl Mist on black cardstock: one has no mist, then a light mist and a heavy mist.
