Scrapbooking With October Afternoon 13 comments
Let's Go Fly A KitePosted by Dianedi In New England, the warmer weather is finally upon us! What better way to get into the spirit of spring and the anticipation of summer than by creating projects with the beautiful Fly A Kite Collection by October Afternoon! This spectacular collection includes papers and embellishments in shades of blue, pink, yellow, green and brown. You'll find fabulous patterns, polka dots, florals and text papers that are versatile, light, and cheery that will work well for any project!
One of my favorite things about October Afternoon is the fabulous sticker sheets that they always include in their collections! For this layout, I've used a combination of the Fly a Kite Shape Stickers and the Fly A Kite Word Stickers to create a garden around the photo. I've used the Strawberry Jam and Picnic Table papers and the "fun" is from We R Memory Keepers 72 and Sunny Layered Chipboard stickers. The photo is my daughter (on the right) and our next door neighbors having fun in our backyard this past summer!
Truth be told...I've never been a baseball or softball fan. But, my daughter decided this past year that she wanted to give softball a try. So, we added it into our schedule! In our town, they have a opening day that is sponsored by Outback Steakhouse and they definitely make a big deal of the day with prizes, food, and contests. This year, they also had KO, the local Boston mascot, attend the event and all of the kids got to take photos. For the layout, I knew I wanted to play off of the circular shape of the softball. I dug through my templates and used the Crafters Workshop template Dots All Around to create the two rows of dots in dark brown ink. I simply placed the template in the center of the layout and went over all of the dots in those 2 rows using the Colorbox Fluid Cat's Eye in Dark Brown. I cut the pink scalloped frame out on the Cricut using the Stretch Your Imagination cartridge at 6". Next, I layered the sticker embellishments, cut flowers, and journaling card.
To show the versatility of this line, I created a masculine page showing my husband (on the left) and our neighbor. They both thought they would be funny and roast empty cans for my photo instead of marshmallows! The base of this layout uses the Sprinkler paper and then the Ice Cream paper which I cut a circular pattern out of the paper. I cut out a few circular embellishments from the Front Porch paper using a 1.25" circular punch and layered those on the Ice Cream paper. Finally, I added a journaling card and a few stickers to finish it off!
I created both of these cards with stickers I had leftover from the Fly A Kite Shape Stickers, Word Stickers, and Label Stickers. Papers used include Picnic Table and Dandelions.
