About Me

UPDATED March 10, 2020

I'm Da'Lynn (with a long /a/ sound). I just turned 40 and am not quite sure how I feel about that! Bill and I have been married for almost 19 years now, together for over 20. I'm a homeschooling mom with 5 kids including one graduate. The big boys are 21 this month, 16, and 15, and my twins - one boy and my only girl - are 9.

(Most of what is below is what was popular to place in your profile when I was last active here, before my twins were born. I've edited to reflect my current style and interests, but I've no idea if this is still what is done here. I'll edit if this isn't appropriate!)

Album size? It depends on the album, and honestly I'll do any size these days, but mostly 12x12 and some 8.5x11 or 8x8. My daughter is now scrapbooking and we prefer 8.5x11 or 8x8 for her, some 6x6.

Color choices? classics for the boys (unless I'm working on baby stuff in pastels), jewel tones for my own and family stuff. Any shade of blue and green. Now that I have a girl, I'm loving pinks and purples too! I like the bold colors and jewel tones for most pages.

Pets? Dogs over time but not many pictures. A few cats we have pics of. I'm not a big pet scrapper, but I'll scrap them with the kids.

What kind of layouts are you going to be working on in the future? It's catch-up time! Mostly kid pages, holidays, and outdoor activities

Do you have a sizzix?
Yes, the original. Um, I'll update a little later with the dies I have; don't remember off the top of my head!
-These days I also have a Big Shot, which I think will do just about anything. I also have a QuicKutz but not many dies for it, just one alphabet set. I have a personal Cricut, the old 6x12 kind that needs cartridges.

Do you like cute stuff? Not sure what this meant at the time, but... yes... I think...

Heritage? Yes! I've had two grandparents pass away in the last couple of years, and hubby likes this style for his family albums.

Do you use diecuts? YES! Storebought, made with a personal machine, handcut from stencil, or stencils so I CAN handcut them! I need to learn the newer digital stuff. I'm old style.

Lumpy or not lumpy? only slightly lumpy

Anything you won't use? nothing extremely heavy or thick (dominoes are too thick but most buttons are not) I try to stay acid and lignin free, but sometimes I forget and use cute wood items (completely surrounded by buffered paper, of course).

Favorite designers? Mrs Grossman, Stickopotamus, EK Success, Jolees and imitations, Paper Bliss, *Doodlebug*, All My Memories (there's more gotta check my pile), I like some of the brighter Karen Foster stuff, and some of the brighter-but-distressed papers are okay for the boys' stuff.
--OH GEEZ, all that info is so old! Doodlebug is still a favorite but I'll need to update myself on current companies. Heidi Swapp, SEI, and Quick Quotes are definitely on the list.

Anything you are wanting to try? Umm... how bout, getting in there and getting anything done at all??? LOL I want to make sure I'm using fun techniques on most pages, but I like my pages to be quick and effective at telling the story.

Do you stamp? I want to do more of this. I'm a collector, currently.

Chalk? need more info; I'm not doing it right

Ribbon (unprinted/printed)? yes - but these days I'm seeing that Washi Tape serves the same purpose.

Patches? not sure what this means

Metal clips? YEP

Wooden embellishments? Less these days. They are cute and I like to use them on home decor and other projects!

Library pockets/cards? YES, school themed!

Buckles (metal/plastic)? YES

Twist ties? have a few baby would love more

Decorative brads? one of my faves

Twill (unprinted/printed)? yes

Fabric? Yes, I love texture of any sort

Bottlecaps (plain/printed)? absolutely, and either plain or printed is fine.

Rick Rack? Yes.

Canvas embellishments? Yes.

Color washes? dont know what this is

Walnut ink? I don't remember what this is.

Liquid chalk ink pads? Have no idea what this means.

Acrylic paints? Yes

Foam stamps? YES!!!!

Regular stamps? YES!!!!!!

What is your favorite type of item to make? shakers and paper piecings; also enjoy tags or deco/serendipity squares

What is your least favorite type of item to make? I'm not sure if I have a least favorite.

Do you use journal boxes on a regular basis? yes, always looking for creative journaling ideas

Do you use borders on a regular basis? I feel like I should use them more often

Do you use titles on a regular basis? Essential almost

Do you use embellished tags on a regular basis? absolutely - no page is complete without a tag ;)

Do you use paper piecings on a regular basis? I want to do more of these and love looking for patterns

Do you use shakers on a regular basis? want to use them more often because I love making them

Do you use deco squares on a regular basis? yes

Do you use serendipity squares on a regular basis? yes

What is your greatest scrapbooking weakness? Trying to fit too much on a page, OR trying to artsy it and forgetting that my "why" is to get down the stories.

What is your favorite paper theme? I use mostly solids and prefer repeating patterns. I need to scrapbook a lot of holiday and baby stuff.

Other than time and money (which we all need more of), what is your greatest scrapbooking challenge? Having all the ingredients and supplies to do a technique, and forgetting to tell the story which is super important to me.

Themes I can ALWAYS use:
all boy
girly girl
any holidays
any seasons
outdoors, camping
family, siblings
dance, gymnastics
