August Bullet Journal

August Bullet Journal

Hello!  It’s Jennie McGarvey and I’m here today to share with you a layout in my creative journal.  This is an A5 dot grid notebook by Archer & Olive, however, the size and type are a truly personal preference.  The A5 size feels very natural to me, but I really do love almost every size that they make!

I like to use this journal as a creative outlet.  I write in it whatever I feel like and I decorate it for however I’m feeling at the time.  Sometimes, that’s seasonal and sometimes it’s not.  This allows me to try new things including techniques and products. This week I’m using the Simple Stories Crafty Things Rub-Ons.  I absolutely love rub-ons for any project, but especially in a bound planner or journal.  You get gorgeous images and no bulk at all!

One of the things that I love about rub-ons is that you can layer images. So, use them individually, or layer them up!  Either way, they look great.

I also love to use brush pens in the journal.  This is another way I get to feel creative and have a lot of fun, even if it’s only drawing straight lines.  It still feels really fun and I enjoy the process of matching the markers to the embellishments that I’m using.  I also love the Fudenosuke brush pens for lettering as the brush tip is the perfect size for this size of paper.

Don’t let a blank notebook intimidate you.  Dive right in and get started!  They are fun to use and very forgiving.  I don’t stress at all if I miss a week or two – I just pick up where I left off!
