Double Page Spread

Hi Cherries! Natalie here using the new Fancy Pants Designs Lake Life collection for a double-page scrapbook layout. You can find a full process video below:

I used some clear gesso on some light Kraft cardstock and planned for a grid design. I scraped crackling campfire distress oxides from Tim Holtz into two opposite sections of my grid, applied water, and used my brush and paper movement to spread the color while keeping them in the square-ish area.

Double Page Spread

I added hickory smoke distress oxide to the bottom left corner and rustic wilderness to the top right. I used the Lake Life collection and my photo to dictate the color scheme. After the colors dried, I used the new Aztec stencil from the Simple Stories Howdy collection to apply matte texture paste in sporadic sections.

I picked three papers from the Lake Life 6×8 paper pad and distressed the edges. I popped them up on adhesive foam in a grid design and added my photo in the bottom right corner.

I used the Memory Box Wooden Alpha dies to create the word “hang” for my title. I created the rest of the title with the Heather Lower Case Alpha Dies by iCrafter. I tied a couple of strands of woolen thread around some letters for added interest and to bring in the blue color to the stark white title.

Lastly, I used the die-cut ephemera pack from Lake Life to add a few images to my layout. Then I added a couple of strips of the woodgrain paper to the top and bottom of the layout to bring in a cozy color to the edges, as well as to coordinate with the wood grain letters in my title.

I was thrilled with the final result! I created a 12×12 pocket page to accompany this traditional layout, as we had such a fun, full day to document!

I love to repeat elements from the traditional 12×12 page in the pocket page to add cohesion. I used the Lake Life 6×8 paper pad to create my own pocket cards.

I love to add stamping in the colors of the collection, as well as use smaller bits of the die-cut ephemera.

Adding details such as stitching will help make your pocket page feel complete and as interesting as the 12×12 traditional layout.

I used phrases and words to create a small list to remind me of the day. There doesn’t necessarily have to be a long, paragraphed story for each layout. These descriptions will be enough to recall the fun memory of a great lake day!

I love how well these two pages jive! This is a fun way to create a layout with only one photo while still encompassing multiple photos on a spread. I hope you’re encouraged to liven up your double-page layouts to include pockets. Grab all of these fun products in the A Cherry on Top Store today!
