The Halloween stuff is put away but the fall stuff is still out. We decorate for Christmas the weekend before Thanksgiving because if we don't it has to wait far too long into December before it happens and we want to enjoy December. Christmas ends in middle January and it's always so sad to take down all of the ornaments and decorations. The house just looks so festive for Christmas that I want to have it out as long as possible.
Last year, my mom didn't decorate for Christmas because they come here and she said it was just so sad. So she's decorating before Thanksgiving this year, too. Then when we are there at Thanksgiving we can all enjoy her decorations and take pictures early!
We start usually Thanksgiving weekend, but it all depends on whether dh is doing field work still or not as he has to haul the stuff out of the attic.
We take down around new years - at least by the 6th of January.
I hate the rush of starting so early so Thanksgiving weekend is as early as I'll do anything. When we had a live tree we would wait until two weeks before Christmas.

We start 2 weeks before Christmas, and pull it all down New's Year Day. We don't go all out though. Just a tree, and my christmas bears on the entertainment center.

I decorate the second week of December.
Everything comes down New Year's day.

I have a white nativity set that I got from Avon (have had it for probably 20 years). That usually goes out first, the weekend after Thanksgiving. Then little by little, I put more decorations out. Our tree (fake) goes up a couple of weeks before Christmas, and dh takes it down the day after Christmas, while I'm at work. We have a ton of outdoor lights, but haven't put them out in a couple of years.

I like to start Thanksgiving weekend (when I'm not shopping). I like to have the tree up for my birthday (Dec.7) and everything comes down after the 6th of January.
we always buy a live tree from our church. I think they start selling them the first weekend of december, so we start decorating when we get the tree.
The tree goes up right after T'giving and then the rest of it goes up over the next week. Shopping begins tomorrow!!! One of my sons gave me a great list.

My tree usually goes up black friday...or at least i start it.. i just don't have the patience sometimes to finish in one day. I usually watch the nightmare before christmas while i decorate the tree. and last year i watched a christmas story while i wrapped presents.
as for shopping...i started picking up stuff in january ...yeah i have a problem...but i saw some stuff that was super cute and 75%off so why not?

I shop all year long too - so I'm not stuck with a large $$$ to fork over in the last couple of months.
The past three years since I moved to Houston, I have not decorated since I went to San Antonio for the holidays. This year, my plans will be a little different so I have to decide if I'm going to decorate over Thanksgiving or not. I'll be gone at least one full week the beginning of December for a cruise, and will go to San Antonio the Friday before Christmas and stay until New Years. Then the first two weeks of January I'll be traveling again.
I have a friend in San Antonio that has her official Christmas open house the last weekend in February. Its been a tradition for umpteen years. It started one year when her family's schedule wouldn't fit the event before Christmas. So she left the tree (artificial of course) up until February, and then sent out invitations. Everyone loved it, cause there wasn't other events to conflict. It became a great tradition, and she always has a full house.
I'm thinking about doing that this year too. Plus it will be the anniversary of my condo purchase.

I usually start first weekend in December for Christmas...however this year, I'm away on a hockey tourney, so I'll be doing it on your Thanksgiving.. We get a real tree, so that goes up around December 14-20. Everything stays up until after Ukrainian Christmas (January 6th).

Day after Thanksgiving or that weekend. Everything comes down January 1.

The first thing that comes out is the box of Christmas CDs. That's right after Thanksgiving. Then little by little we start decorating. Usually we leave it up until the first week of January. Last year we didn't throw the tree out til February because we had such blizzards that there was nowhere to put it on the curb LOL!
Happy Scrapping, cherries!

This was the first year I started early. Started in June and managed to finish up yesterday. And it feels GREAT! Took care of my side - parents, brother, SIL, and BFF; along with my MIL. Have ideas for FIL and BIL, and step son, and will probably finish all of that w/in a couple of weeks.

I pull my Christmas stuff out of the attic when I put my Halloween decorations away...usually the first week of November. The kids put up our large formal tree today, but I'm having issues with the lights, so we didn't get as far as I had hoped. I got frustrated with our second ("kids") tree and hauled it to the trash today, and we ordered a "funky" one online (which will make great scrapbook pages...you all will laugh when you see the tree). It should arrive while we're on vacation, so it won't get up for a couple of weeks.
I shop all year long. I'm probably halfway through with buying gifts for my kids. Last few years I've done BF's shopping for his kids for him, so I have that to look forward to. DD and I have been planning our buffet dinner menu for about a month now...lots of experimenting with recipes...fun!!

I shop all year long too - usually works great, until I forget where I hid something! I found some gifts meant for the girls about 5 years ago....will be wonderful for a toy drive

Yeah, I've done that as well. I know I have gifts from last year that never made it to their intended homes. I haven't found them since I unpacked after my move, so no telling when I will find them. On purpose, I've created a shelf in my upstairs closet that is the ONLY place I'm going to use to store what I buy as I go along.

Last year I did it the first weekend in December, it will probably be the same this year. Something feels wrong to me to do Christmas stuff before December. haha! Well, other than the shopping. I get that done nice and early.
I don't much more than put up a tree. I love a decorated tree, sitting on the couch in the dark with the tree lights on.
