September No Printing Photo(s) Challenge
So we are on to the second grab of a photo, or two, or many!!

This month I'm giving you a tip I read on Pinterest and I apologize because I didn't see who was the name behind this tip.  But it wasn't my idea, but it works!

Grab a photo if you have can that is one of the following: old sepia, old yellow tint, black and white photo, or if you have one that you edited to one of the above.  You know how these gems just don't work with more modern colors of scrapbook supplies.  Well the secret is in the photo mat!  Double mat the photo,  one mat being white, the other layer being ivory, cream, or a pale yellow.  If your photo is of the sepia or gold tones, the nat next to the photo should be white, with the cream/yellow away from the yellow photo.  Reverse the mats colors for black and white, and put the cream first, then white.  Proceed to make your layout as you would if your photo was a color photo, and you'll see how the mats make the photo and color background look like they bled together.

If you prefer not to do this, you can still grab from your already printed photos and do your thing.  If you choose to try it, I'll give you a bonus entry.

I will post my layout as soon as I can to show you the effect.  Have fun!  Due the last day of September, midnight.

Re: September No Printing Photo(s) Challenge
Oh this is a perfect challenge for me right now! I am in the process of scanning DH's old family photos. One of his brothers has several albums, which I haven't started on, but his sister has their parents' wedding album from 1951. I just scanned 23 pics from their wedding and want to dive in, so this is a fantastic tip! They are kind of sepia? I think they were black and white but over time...  So now I know how to handle the color tones - thank you!!

Edited to add: Doh!!! Just realized that I don't have these photos printed out yet LOL! I will find some other photos for this challenge, but this is still great advice in general LOL!

Sure!  I'm not saying when you needed to print them, I just want to nudge you gals to use some already printed.

Whoops, forgot the second question! You may do these as many times as you want, the goal is to get them scrapped and in an album.

Printed this almost 2 years ago and finally got around to scrapping it.  Her father was in and out of rehabs (kept getting kicked out) until he finally disappeared from their life.  Made it hard to scrap her early days.

Here's one using photos from 1997 - I could literally do this challenge forever.  Combined with the Sketch with the Twist Challenge.

Very pretty!  I didn't realize we could use color photos for this challenge.  Precious!

Re: September No Printing Photo(s) Challenge
Thank you for the kick in the butt!  I scanned and printed this about three years ago when my father in law first sent it to me.  It has been sitting in my photo box since so good to get it out!  Rather than cream, I matted it with white and blue with the dark blue against the rest of the papers to help blend

Re: September No Printing Photo(s) Challenge
Sher - is the use of black/white or sepia photos only for the bonus or is that the challenge itself?

Printed this a few years ago, but it was one I wasn't planning to scrap, bc most of the pictures from that event were already scrapped.
