I fell into a bit of a reading slump last month and this book got me out of it. It is a quick read, written in various letters, emails, and documents and is perfect for summer days at the beach or pool.



Bernadette Fox, the once up-and-coming architect, is now overwhelmed by life. After her pet project was destroyed by her nemesis, Bernadette went into hiding, never to create again. Now, with the prospect of an international trip on the horizon, Bernadette is relying more and more on her virtual assistant to plan all the details for her, while going further into hiding herself. Add to that a nosy neighbor and a school parent organization whose members consider Bernadette a nuisance, and she finds less and less reason to venture out. When her behavior becomes so erratic as to threaten her husband's high-powered job, an intervention is planned, but Bernadette interrupts her own intervention by appearing and then just as quickly, disappearing, without a trace. 

What begins as a local search, for surely she couldn't have gotten far, soon turns into a globe-trotting adventure as Bernadette's husband and daughter search to find where she, in fact, has gone.

This one may be a little on the nose, but let's see some travel pages! All destinations of travel will be accepted, but as the book includes an international adventure, pages featuring travel to another country or continent will earn a bonus entry!


OPTION 2: DEAR JOHN
I really loved the epistolary format of this book, with much of the story being told through letters and emails between the characters. Therefore, for Option 2, you MUST include journaling in the form of a letter, complete with "Dear ____________" and "Love, _______________". You can write to a person, an animal, or even your daughter's favorite doll to thank it for getting her through a tough time. The subject of the page can be anything, as long as the journaling is a letter.

Last summer I turned 50, so my mom and I took a 10-day trip through New England. These pictures were taken at a rest stop as went drove into Maine. I did it for 30 days of sketches over on Facebook.
