Oh my gosh, friends, I have to apologize. I have a notebook where I keep track of my challenges and the winners each month, and somehow I had written June's winners in for July, tricking myself into thinking I'd already chosen the winners for this challenge!   So, here it is, SEPTEMBER 6TH, and I'm finally picking the winners for July. Better late than never, right?????

I continue to be overwhelmed by your love for this challenge, and it was so fun to see everyone's lifts of themselves! So, without any further ado, here are the July winners:

Athena Liu and June Hayward, the sometimes friends, graduated college together and were poised to be hot new talents in the literary world. For Athena, this rings true: she releases a critically acclaimed first novel with Netflix jumping on the rights for a film adaptation. June's debut, however, flops and she finds living in Athena's shadow to be almost more than she can bear. Therefore, when she witnesses Athena's accidental death, is it any surprise that several other "accidents" follow? June "accidentally" sees Athena's newly finished second manuscript, "accidentally" takes it home, "accidentally" edits it, and "accidentally" submits it to her editor, passing it off entirely as her own work. What follows is a meteoric rise to fame that previously belonged solely to Athena, and which June had only watched from the wings. While she enjoys her newfound stardom as the publishing world's literary darling, June's authenticity is called into question. What gives a white woman the right to write a novel about Chinese laborers in World War II? Why did she allow her publishing team to rebrand her as Juniper Song, if not to trick her readers into thinking she was Asian, and thus more entitled to write about this part of history? How does she explain the fact that much of the phrasing of her novel is reminiscent of the style in which Athena wrote her first book?

As the claims against June multiply, and an online assault is waged against her, she continues to defend her credibility, all the while being haunted by Athena Liu's ghost, and the guilt of what she's done. For how long can she outrun her demons before they finally catch up to her and devour her? 


OPTION 1: YELLOW PAGES
For this one, I want you to flood your pages with yellow. 50% or more of your page must be yellow, with the following requirements met:

• SOLID yellow background paper
  
• at least one PATTERNED PAPER with yellow in it
  
• at least one yellow EMBELLISHMENT
  
• yellow in at least one of your PHOTOS

OPTION 2: IMITATION IS THE HIGHEST FORM OF FLATTERY
In the book, June takes Athena's manuscript and, though she modifies it and puts her own voice to it, the story is still Athena's, and June still claims all the credit for herself. As scrappers, we don't do that! If we scraplift a layout, we give credit where credit is due, and that's what Option 2 is all about. For this one, find a layout in the gallery that you want to modify and make your own, and do it! BUT, don't be like June; make sure you include a photo and name the creator of the original layout in addition to posting the one you've created.


This month, you'll get a BONUS ENTRY if you scraplift yourself! That's right - take a page of your own that you particularly love and recreate it with new photos, paper, and embellishments. 

4. Due July 31st, at 11:59 PM.
5. One lucky winner, chosen at random, will receive a $5 ACOT gift card from me!
6. Up to 3 entries permitted per month.
7. If there are more than 15 unique entries (not including bonuses) during the month, a second name will be drawn and that person will get an automatic entry for the following month.

I decided to scraplift myself. Here is my new layout

I started out with these photos intending to do option 1 - with yellow - but decided the gold background doesn't fit the intention of the challenge, so I ended up with option 2 and scrap lifting myself. -

I chose option 2. For BONUS I lifted myself. I reversed the direction of the stripes in the background paper and turned the long strip diagonally from the left. Also changed the middle of the card. Combined with Title challenge.
