A new Challenge!

Welcome to my Needlecrafting/Fiber challenge! Not every challenge is for everyone but I know there are cherries who do other crafting besides scrapbooking.  This is not a general craft challenge, this is specifically for needlecrafting and related projects such as cross stitch, embroidery, knitting, crochet, sewing, quilting....anything crafted with fiber.  I would also accept macrame and rug hooking.  There are probably others.  Sorry, diamond paintings are not a needlecraft or fiber craft.  No layouts/cards with fibers on them will be accepted, this is for projects that are not paper related.

This will run for 2 months at a time and I am starting this one early since NSD is this weekend and will be a very busy couple of weeks.  Most needlecrafts take a long time to do and there will be a limit of 2 entries per person with a possible bonus entry at times.  This is the May/June 2 month challenge.

Projects can be big or very small, any questions just ask!

Your project can be entered no matter when it was started!  It's about getting them done, but no rush this will be an ongoing challenge.  So big, or small just enter when you are done.

We can use the challenge thread to update on progress of a project you are working on if you like but please specify if it is a WIP (work in progress) as that won't count as an entry but we can all see how your project is coming along.

Here is a very small cross stitch I did over 20 years ago...

Image

and here is a cross stitch I did recently...

Image

I did not do this one because I do not crochet but was given to me as a gift, but was hand crocheted, it's a super cute little floral bouquet!

--WIP (work in progress) will not be an entry but please share if you like!
--Post your project to this thread by 12am on the last day of the 2 month challenge (June 30th)

Re: May/June 2026 Needlecrafting/Fiber Challenge~NEW Challenge!
OH! I love this challenge!! I will have to take a picture of a large cross-stitch WIP I have going on - the Star Wars movie poster from the original film. My plan is to have it finished and framed by next May for the 50th (!!) anniversary. It has twenty 8x11 sheets of paper for the pattern. I just finished 9 pages. After each page I finish, I "treat" myself to a small project just to keep momentum going. I am doing a tiny Spongebob cross stitch for DD that should be finished in time. I'm also working on two new crochet armrests for the couch and my goal is to finish them before May 31 because that is DD's grad party and the couch needs help lol. We shall see if they will be done in time. Maybe your challenge will help my time management LOL!

When you say "finished" do you mean framed too? Or just the needlecraft part finished?

Anne-Marie, I just can't believe you are working on that big of a project oh my!  I am excited to see everyones' work.  So finished meaning the stitching design, not framed or whatever complete finish is planned that takes a while sometimes!  I will clarify that in the rules.  And this one is due end of June so hopefully you will have your entries done!

Yay! Whew!! Thank you! Because I know she is probably going to want a nautical-ish looking frame for her Spongebob thingy and I don't know when we're going to find something like that lol. If you are a SB fan...it's Mr. Krabs's first dollar that he had framed. So...she's going to be specific lol. And it's tiny - it's going to be like 2x4 inches, if even that big lol. Oh, and I'm also doing another bathroom-themed one that I'm almost done with and will be a hoop, and I have lots of them. And the crochet. So, it's just going to be a race to see which 2 projects will be finished first LOL! As for the big Star Wars one...I have to measure again to see how big it is. I need to iron it too and then I'll do a picture. I'm so glad you are doing this challenge. It will be fun to see what everybody is doing and all in one place. Scrapping is my daytime, here and there, eyeball break from the computer hobby.  Cross stitch is my afternoon tea and listening to an audiobook project. And crochet is my watching TV at night because I can't just sit there not doing anything projects LOL.

Happy Scrapping, cherries!

Re: May/June 2026 Needlecrafting/Fiber Challenge~NEW Challenge!
I unearthed a crosstitch pattern book that I never actually opened so I might do a project from there but I also want to use up some fabric scraps and kind of want to make a crazy-quilt coaster set. I also have yarn I bought (even though I only know how to knit long rectangulars (that don't end because I don't know how to ... bind off?) and I can't find my crochet hook thing. I do have a blanket in mind if I can pull it off in 2 months. Will go on a supply hunt in between NSD projects,. Thank you for mixing it up  a bit!

The crazy quilt coaster set sounds so cool!  Yah and don't forget this is for little projects too, and with 2 entries everyone can work on big and small projects at the same time and whenever the big one gets done it will be ready for an entry.  You do it all!  Can't wait to see everything.

All my projects are already started but I've been having trouble getting them finished -- but if I'm reading your rules correctly, none of these will count, right?  All projects need to be started and finished within the 2 month period?

No!  Any project that is completed in this time frame even if it has been in the works for some time.  Sorry, I will clarify that also.  I'm glad I'm getting these questions.  Some of these projects take a really long time so it's totally fine if something is started so it's about completing them, hope this helps!  And we'd love to see a finish but no rush, this will be an ongoing challenge.

I love this challenge.  I've been doing more quilting and sewing than I have scrapbooking and cardmaking.

I'm working on 3 different quilts right now.  Getting close to being done.

Wonderful, would love to see! I think I have 3 in the works also. I've been doing more sewing and stitching than scrapping also in the past year. But the next 2 weeks are all about scrapping! Hope you can enter your project here!
