Here is my version of the alphabet cards. Instead of trying to use every letter of the alphabet, I picked just some and tried to make this a sort of "snapshot of us" (my family) right now--September 2006. I used lots of Basic Grey as well as other manufacturers. I wanted the cards to remain pretty flat, so they are mostly embellished simply with rub-ons. The box stays closed with one of the BG magnets and I made the ribbon handle myself.
The first card (the "A" card) has the bulk of the journaling:
A is for "At this moment…"
September 10, 2006
At this moment our little family is content. Aside from a fall off the picnic table in the backyard yesterday (see the "U" card), everyone is healthy in our little group of four. We're coming off of a trying summer filled with frustration and sadness. Among other things, Granny and Great Grandpa are not well and we wonder how much longer we have with them. Sometimes I get so busy that I feel overwhelmed and pulled in many directions. But overall, when I stop and gaze at life going on around me, I feel lucky and happy. Today is the first day of football season, so Papi is happy. Fall is coming, so I am happy. Fall break is coming, so Thomas is happy. And Rosie, in her ever joyful way, is always happy. Life is good.
Materials:
Basic Grey alphabet cards, box, magnetic snap, ribbon, letter stickers and rub-ons
Bazzill cardstock
Brad (on ribbon handle): Cactus Pink
Other rub-ons: Pressed Petals, Bo Bunny, 7gypsies, Heidi Swapp, Making Memories, ProvoCraft, Autumn Leaves
Faux flower: Prima
Rhinestone stickers: Heidi Swapp, Target
Metal rectangle rings (on handle): Li'l Davis
Journaling pens: black American Crafts Pigment Pro; white Sharpie
Ink pad: Color Box (black)
Thanks for looking!
