Journaling Reads~

When I was diagnosed with diabetes in 1982 I began taking 2 types of insulin twice a day. We would practice on am orange with distilled water. It took me about 2 weeks after being diagnosed before I was giving my very own shots. I did how ever give my sister her first one fright after I came home from the hospital after my two days in for education.

The longer I had diabetes the treatment changed. I then went to taking 4 to 6 shots a day. I was counting carbohydrates. So then short acting insulin was taken every time you ate and then once a day Long acting Insulin. It was also known as the “POOR MAN’S PUMP.”

My freshman year at Ricks College (Fall of 1990) I went on an insulin pump and have been on it for the past 24years.
