Letterbox by American Crafts
Challenging you to get YOU into your layouts!
American Crafts new line Letterbox is seriously fun line to work with. What I liked most about these papers is that the several of the patterned side of the papers have either a little glitter here and there or some embossing that adds just the right extra touch. The solid colors on the back all coordinate beautifully with the patterns and can be used to cut down on the busy feel of some of the patterns. When I started picking out photos to work with, I tried to chose photos that were fun and feminine since that is the feel I got from the papers. As I was looking at my finished layouts I realized that all 3 layouts had a picture of me in it! One about me, one about my family and one about my friends! What a great combo of topics! Now I challenge you to create 3 layouts with similar themes and get yourself in your layouts too!!!
All Things Considered
My first LO is the one that is about me. The journaling is a bit personal, but it was something that has been on my mind for most of this past year and it is probably a topic that will continue to be on my mind, but with focus in other directions. I challenge you to create a layout about something personal in your life. You can let the journaling be the focus of the layout like I did here or maybe keep it hidden for only you so see. Either way, I feel it is an important sometimes to express how you feel and what is on your mind. And what better way is there to do this than with scrapbooking?!
Designer tips:
I used pattern paper as my embellishments by cutting out the frame/labels from the Sincerely paper and then used a butterfly punch to add further embellishment. I put double sided foam tape on the back side of the frame/labels and then placed them in the same place on my LO as they were on the actual patterned paper. I kept the image from ACOT open on my computer monitor as a reference. The title was created using cardstock and my Silhouette. I then added a little sparkle with some Stickles so it would match the sparkle on the Letterbox papers. I also added stickles to the pink buttterflies along the right butterfly border strip.
Love U Lots
The title says it all here! I truly love my darling niece LOTS!!! And who can blame me? She is so stinking adorable! Sometimes the photos and a few words can really say it all!
Designer tips:
I cut a frame out of the Warm Wishes paper and distressed the edges. I cut varying sizes of circles out of the With Love paper and placed them behind the photos. I used my Silhouette to cut out the large "U" and then dry embossed it to add extra texture. The buttons sewn in the corners and the white strip cut from the Madam Luster paper help to ground the overal design.
Because
This layout focuses on a friendship that has developed because of this great hobby scrapbooking! I felt it was important to create a layout telling this story and how special this hobby is too me for this reason!
Designer Tips:
I used the sketch from this months sketch challenge as my inspiration for this layout design. I cut the flowers out of the Signature Glitter paper and offset them and then added a pearl brad to the center. I also cut out smaller flowers from the Signature Glitter paper and swirls from the With Love paper. You could just as easily use a die cut machine to cut out small flowers and swirls to get them same effect and without going blind trying to see what you are doing! LOL!!! Plus that would be a lot faster.
Spring Flower Ornament
One last project using this awesome paper line! With Christmas almost here, I couldn’t resist creating a Christmas ornament out of my scraps! I followed a tutorial I found online to create a paper pinecone ornament and just turned it so the bottom was on the side facing you instead. It is a bit time consuming and I found a hot glue gun better to deal with than pins.
I hope you have enjoyed the combination of ideas and tips I have shared with you for this reveal! And seriously….I challenge you all to start putting yourself in your layouts more often if you aren’t already doing so!
